Whats every one running in their cars?? Im setting up 2 X 10" woofers in the rear. But what else are others running. I want a balanced sound. I have a set of 6x9 at the rear already but they are coming out for the woofer set up. Do i do separate components for mid etc....and what do i put in the doors.I know its been asked before but i can't seem to get a good idea of whats best.

Cheers all!!!

When i actually get round to installing everything i will be running high powered original sized front speakers, and the same in the rear. But also adding 2x12" subs in the rear just for bragging rights LOL.

Isaac

My j l audio set-up was 2 x 100w components to fronts, 2 x 25w rear components and 250 w sub in boot, awesome sound running off 500/5 w amp.

i think the best setup is

components in the front,

1 sub & amp is enough,

(dont think theres need for 2 or 4 subs, as 1 good one can just do the same.)

i have a set of 6x9s in the back aswell

You're very right, and i do infact know that however if i say i have 2x12" subs its great for my bragging rights :p

I'll teach ya a thing or two

iv got infinity kappa components up front, infinity kappa midbass drivers to the rear in bose enclosures, powered by an infinity 4 channel amp. infinity perfect 10 sub in a custom box powered by an infinity mono amp. sound processing is all done by my car pc's creative x-fi thx 24bit dac sound card and iv got sound deadening dotted about all over the place.

as you want a balanced sound its good you took your 6x9s out, you wont be needing them so launch them out the window ;) good sound is all about staging, you want to concentrate the majority of your speaker budget on the fronts. when the sub and the fronts are balanced it will centralise the sound and sound amazing... i believed it could sound better with some rear fill so i put some mid bass drivers in the back which, to sound half decent, are turned down so low they may aswell not be there! i strongly believe you dont need rear speakers if you set it up properly with decent drivers up front.

i would urge any1 running rear speakers (epecially as powerful as 6x9s) to disconnect them, put a good quality, amped component set up front and play around with the balance to a sub... you'll never go back. imo sound dtaging is so important to achieve decent sq.

Sounds good that Joel. I had a big problem with the 6x9's out doing my front speakers so i could never balance them.

agree totally ditch rears completley fade it all up front. I'm running a set of 6.5" polyglass focal components(they sound super lursh) up front from an alpine 4 ch amp bridged to 2 ch to get the power up to about 110w rms. sound deaden the doors and boot(this is VERY important for sound quality ), floor also if you want. Stick a sub or 2 in the boot, jl audio and focal rock but jbl gt5's are brill bang for buck just check out the audio forums:D

all your doing by adding rears is producing a sound that will just muddle the fronts clarity as the speakers usually used for rears will probably be of different brand/make/model therefore producing a completely different sound. If you MUST use rears use the same type as front but in such a small enclosure ie a car you wont need it.

As already said by others if you want sound quality go for high quality front components (mid, tweeter, crossover) and a decent sub and amp for the boot.

All the high and mid tones are handled by the fronts, and the Sub for the bass.

No need for rears, and dont bother with 6x9's

the sound is fantastic.

How are you running the front speakers? is it a 4 channel amp running fronts + subs or mono amp for rears and fronts straight from head unit? wouldnt 2 amps be best, one for fronts one for rears?

Just the one amp to run the subs, head running the front very loud not needing any extra power from another amp.:D

4 channel bridged to 2 running the fronts on mine with a monoblock running the sub's
