Oil Filter for NA

Hi,

Where is the best place to buy an oil filter for an NA, and can you confirm that I need approximately 4 litres of oil max?

Thanks.

Get it from Nissan and 4 litres of oil is enough. Fill her up to 3.5 litres, then use the dipstick to get the level right from then on. Oil can be quite slow getting to the Sump on the VG so carefull not to overfill.

Nissan for the oem , oh and ask for the washer :)

the filter is the same tt / n-a

have you had any prior issues going to Nissan though with it being an import?

Only bought the car 2 months ago so not had a reason to go to Nissan.

Will they want to know chassis numbers etc? Do they refuse to provide bits for imports?

If they do, where else can I buy one from?

BTW, how much should an OEM be?

You can also buy Wix filters from a motor factors, they are the same as a UK spec, never been asked the chassis number myself.

it's really dealer dependent i've been to 2 one will help no probs and asked for the chassis no: just to make sure they got things right

however the other dealer local to me is a joke wont touch it or look at parts as soon as you mention import although there is no change in filter spec

As above though see if you can get a wix filter (rated well)

i know my motor-world stocks them, i'd only go for the wix or nissan really

oh and expect to pay no more than around £6.00 from Nissan and i'd say slightly less for the wix

I just bought a filter A5208 H890C and sump plug washer, 1102601M02 for my N/A at my local nissan dealer came to £8.92 total with the vat.

Didn't FunkiSi say the Nissan filters are crap these days in a thread somewhere ?!

that number is correct for tt's too right?

Yes Joel both the same, although i cant understand why i paid more at my local Nissan dealer

No, I have never said they were crap. They original OEM Nissan filter fitted to the VG had a non-return valve inside it. The newer ones don't. The filters will still be of good quality.

I now use WIX filters which are top quality filters. These have a non-return valve in them like the originals. I have no idea as to whether this option was of huge benefit because there were never any side-by-side trials, but for the cost of the things, I just go with these. They are about the same price as an OEM Nissan filter. I am happy to use either and have been.

are you sure the part number that groover provided doesnt have a non return valve? my local dealer said that the number i gave them has been superceeded, but they still had the old 1 in stock...

where is the nrv located?

Nissan stopped selling filters with non return valves about 10 years ago!

there must be a good reason for doing it then!

Cost cutting!

obviously not essential then? how do you know your wix one has an nrv?

Maybe not, but the origins are for a NRV. All WIX filters have a non return valve.

Nissan also cut out the boost gauge on series 3 onward which was a stupid thing to do, even though the stock ones aren't all that accurate.....over time.

COST CUTTING!

They probably didn't think it negated the extra expense to supply the part. I can't imagine there would be much difference in running either OEM or WIX filter. Both are of good quality. If there's a good quality one available with a NRV, then that's what I'll have. Cost isn't much different.
