morning all,

now im trying to find the info but im i dont think im looking in the right places.

when driving the Z i find that if i go around the corner my back end kind of kicks out. now im not sure why this happens????

it also happens when i go over pot holes and drain covers, but i have looked and the tyres are all the same size. 225/45/18 is this right ?

also is the hicas light suppose to come on about 5 mins in to the drive?

any info greatly appriciated.

225 is ok for the front but a bit skinny for the rears. your hicas light problem is 'probably' a result of a very common problem... just get some power steering fluid and top up the reservoir, even if it looks full the level sensor is very sensitive.

if it feels unstable, i suggest you get it up on ramps and have a thorough inspection to make sure everything is solid and tight.

i do notice that the power steering gets heavy too after the 5 mins, is this right ?

will be going for 245's front and 265's rear i'm thinking on the new alloys

i'm running 205's on standard J-spec Z wheels all round at the min

not good trust me and certainly been put back in line a few times round corners

what do you recomend for tyres on the rear?

265's or 275's if you can get away with it, i'm gonna try :)

falken fk452's are rated well through here and other sites

now iv know i asked about the tyres and the info was very usefull but i have been told its not the tyres, inow when driving the Z if i go over a pot hole or drain cover the rear end feels like it going to kick and and go sidewards, could this be the bushes on the rear end , iv been told the sub frame is a floating one. could this be the problem?

I think this could be your hicas arms. If i remember correctly, Mr F. told me that when the bushes/rubbers/bearings, whatever they are, on the hicas assy are worn, it feels like the rear end skips around corners, and over pot holes, etc, at the rear end. As matey, joely said, get her up in the air and give it a wiggle. But, i would get it all gone and fit a lock bar, if it were me!!

i believe thats normally the balljoints getting sloppy that causes that. i haven't had the problem myself yet though, so don't know that much on them (can guarantee mine will go soon though just to make me find out!)

Im sure someone will be along in a min whos had the problem and will tell you how hard and how its is to fix

can some one post up a photo of what the hicas arms look like and what i would be looking at as im new to this.

is it then posable for these arms to go at any time as this car has just passed the MOT on the 28th aug.

i like the sound of that, lock bar. but from how i described the problem you think it could be the hicas arms ?

Just get some UK wheels (wider rears)

whats wrong with the wheels i have ?

Mine was like that when I first got it - the rear end would kind of wobble around sideways when you went over a bump or undulation. It was both of the HICAS arms whose joints were worn apparently, so I had them replaced. It was a lot better after that, although it's still abit vague to be honest, but I think that's down to it being a 16 year old car. I'm going to look into trying to tighten the ride up when I've got a bit more cash!

ah ha, these ones:

Don't think UK rears would match the fronts very well :wack:

im confused? what you saying i have 4 fronts then ?????

I think FunkySi assumed you had stock wheels (like the ones in my sig), in which case the UK versions use wider rear wheels than front (as in my sig), as opposed to the Jap ones which are the same all round. So as you don't have stock wheels the comment about UK rears was irrelevant!

'ere we go!

ignore him chap, the only way your gonna please him is if you spend 4k on a set of wheels from nicky clarks designer studio! :smw:

Ram it! I didn't pay anything for my wheels! :wack:

You can get wheels with a better width and offset for peanuts anyway. Don't have to be forget split rims for that.
