Was trying to track down quite a big boost leak today around the idle control valve area when a big gust of wind came out of no where, picked up my bonnet and flipped the fooker over the windscreen :(

 

its bent the bonnet and cracked the scuttle trim :cry:

OMG mate sorry to here that i had mine up today checking fluids.

 

It was waving about a bit had to stop it doing the same at one point !

Least your windscreen is ok tho. I've bought a fair few write off's were the bonnet had flipped so far back it shattered the windscreen and dented all the roof in :eek:

same happened to me today, had it on the second catch and the wind took it all the way back, i was lucky just marked the scuttle panel and i had to t-cut the bonnet

i was pretty lucky really damage wise... as said it didnt damage the windscreen and the bonnet still shuts straight... the bonnet has gone a bit ripply and it's turned up the back corner on the drivers side.

 

now have to add some scuttle trims to the queue of bits to buy!.. the bonnet snubber mod just got a raised priority though :rofl: .. wheres that bloody thread :smw:

That's really bud luck mate. I thought the hinges would have stopped it.

this points out another benifit of fitting a hydraulic lifter to the bonnet instead of the old style steel bar that looks like its off an old barn gate imo..

my mate done this in his impreza however he was doing 70 on the motorway flew right up and shattered the windscreen before ripping off how he managed not to crash il never know

i got pissed off after that and i couldnt hear fook all from the wind anyway so i just went for gold and ripped off the iaa unit... just received a new gasket from mike so hopefully that was the problem... was where the noise sounded like it was coming from.
