Hi there everyone,

Seen this on e-bay but as I know pretty much diddly squat about them I need some help.

Will it be ok on a 1991 UK manual TT with an apexi filter and mongoose exhaust as the only engine mods?

Also would it still be ok if i decide to mod the engine a bit more?

Many thanks as ever. Rob

Mines ECU will be mapped for Japanese fuel. IMO, wouldn't bother and would stick with a good known UK map available from JeffTT, DTA, John Dixon or AndyP.

Zogg had a Mines........ BOOM

What does that mean Si?

He means Zogg's engine blew up. I dont know if the Mines ECU had anything to do with it, I dont remember the details, but thats what Si meant.

Mines supply their ECU remaps to the Japanese Domestic market, in various forms, from mild to aggressive and dependent on supporting modifications.

Purchasing a 2nd hand Mines ECU is a but of an unknown, and personally I prefer to know what sort of Map my car has fitted.

yea buying a second hand Jap ECU is very gambley id say,

you dont know what its been tuned for!

Thanks for all the info and advice guys, I've definatly decided to sack that idea off and speak to one of the lads on here that do it. The point made of knowing exactly what you have is pretty important.

Many thanks again

yea the price you pay,

may aswel get a custom EProm for your ECU.

you know what your getting then :)

From what ive been told by a leading authority on this subject Mines ecu,s are mapped for 104 octane fuel and very often have aggressive timing maps to suit.more power can be obtained with a higher degree of advance in the timing but after a point it can cause detonation and thats where the problems start.

Well when i bought the car, there was a whole blown in one of the pistons, rebore and 6 new pistons needed, plus shagged turbo from bits of metal gettin sucked in, maybe had something to do with it, or the last owner abused her :mac1:

had a mines on mine since the earth began with no bother and been running around 15psi for years now..rolling road also showed a perfect AFR right up to redline so this kinda throws the jap fuel myth out the window

Like I said, the Mines ECU comes in different flavours.
