You doing anything with the bodywork on the new shell?

  • Author

yea, i dont like the bodywork im affraid!

im trying to swap the veilside front bumper for a standard one.

the skirts are off there.

ive removed the gigantic spoiler, which is now in the garden.

by standard bumper is ready to go on, and ive removed the lambo lights, prefered the standard one, as i like how a Z looks standard (bodywise)

to be honest the car doesnt look as good as it does in the pic! ive been on the car since 9 this morn swapping bits and bobs about (im nackard!)

guna clean it tomo, get few more bits off. ive taken couple pics so will post them on here tomo :)

Hey mate good stuff! If you sell that lot it will help to cover the costs of fixing your car up

  • Author

yea i had the shell for a very tidy price, just in the process of transforming it to the old one, which did look lush :D

  • Author
I remember that car, does it still have the umm...interesting red velour dashboard ?

haha, mate, the car is a piece of shit, modified wise!

awful crappy red dash, beyond belief clocks, OTT spoiler, rediculas AUTOMATIC selector.

shit rear lights, i was embarrest leaving it ouside the house!

ive removed all the shit embarrasing bits, its back to respectable Z standards.

chasis and rust wise etc its mint. someone with an awful sense of taste has "tuned" it lol

gotta swap another shock over, do lot more on the new car, interior wise, electrical wise, etc etc.

more to come :)

wow your working quick on that mate. good to see it all going well. keep us posted :D

So glad that horrid bodykit and rear lights are being removed. Sure is an ugly bugger in the first 2 pics! Amazing to see how ugly people can turn a beautiful car into. Nice to see the project moving along. Be good to see it complete.

Good to see you removing all the unsightly red cabling. Keeping colours to a minimum/neutral always gives the cleanest look.

:duffer:

PMSL @ those clocks! Have no idea what went through the person's mind that chose them!

....are you going to replicate the old one as I always thought that car looked spot on. Fantastic wheels!

  • Author

thanks for the comments,

when i picked the car up i was embarrast!

awful clocks, gay automatic selector, red home-made dash, gigantic spoiler,

was thinking bought a pile of shit! :x:

ive been working on the car 6-7 hours a day, sataday, sunday, today,

ive:

swapped fuel pumps

swapped tailgates

removed dash

removed all interior panels

swapped ECUs

swapped suspension & wheels

swapped rear lights,

swapped front light (only have 1 tho :( )

cleaned up all cables, electrics, pipes etc

wing mirrors

door cards

removed clutch pedal (that was loverly job  )

gay automatic selector,

Wasn't one of those hideous Navan shifters was it that looked like this?

out of intrest how hard was it to remove the dash. my1 needs a bit of work

quite straight forward to be honest mate, theres a guid one here, but theres not that many bolts holding it down, and their easy to get at.

the glove box took the longest, but read the guide and u know what ur doing.

was a bit tricky removing the window de-mister without snapping it tho lol

....are you going to replicate the old one as I always thought that car looked spot on. Fantastic wheels!

yes mate, same wheels, suspension, rear tailgate, engine & box, twin kakimoto exhausts, standard bumpers no skirts, same lights.

hoping this one to be better, as theres no HICAS on the new one (as its NA), so lighter subframe, and the shorter ratio Diff.

need an electronic boost controller, as ive kept the NA wiring loom, which will only give 7PSI/safety boost (think?) so shoule be a lot faster!

was gutted when i wrote it off as i only drove it on 10PSI :(

always remember when i turned the boost up from 10 to 15 on my S13, diffference was phenominal!

I am going to be fitting a boost controller to mine at some point. I have a few other things to do first like new O2 sensors, a new chip and some new plugs.

Just moved house, so pretty low on the old cashflow at the moment!!

  • Author

yea increased boost is a big difference in power increase,

cant wait to see the difference on a 3000cc V6 TT,

an 1800cc 4cl single T was rarther fun!

Looking forward to seeing it rise from the dead again, same soul, different body :D

You've had a busy few days by the looks of it :)

hi baz, thanks for that pic! havent seen that before.

yea im going well onit, put the clutch pedal on the new one over the weekend, il post some pics up tonight! :)

  • Author

ok update :)

as this shell is NA, there are obviously no intercooler piping.

the NA aircon rad is a bit bigger than the TT one, so theres no room for the IC pipes with NA aircon rad.

as aircon is just un-necessary, and heavy, its being binned. :p

SP_A0068.jpg

intercooler pipes removed from the TT,

SP_A0068.jpg

and fitted :)

SP_A0072.jpg

quite easy to be honest, was a pain in the arse removing the pipes from the TT, but when the aircon rad & engine rad is removed its very easy, they just fall out

needed to remove a panel from the old car, as the new one didnt have.

the plastic screws had been rounded, so drilled out with the 1980s black and decka lol

SP_A0066.jpg

fuel pumps swapped

SP_A0062.jpg

heres a random pic of that dash :hurl:
