thanks stu

i was on way back from worthing when my car died!!

we just went out for a drive round.

and all help is most appreciated

its a big mutha the crank....borrowed the socket off topless when i did mine....cant recall the size...over 1" i think...might have something in the box as i was given a load of tools n sockets no so long ago...once you have a socket you'll need a long drive torque wrench ideally...soak the crank nut with plusgas or wd40 overnight to help loosen

in the meantime get your battery on charge bud...as above it could have stripped teeth off the belt

Hi Mark, nice to meet you, wish I could of helped you a bit more but my knowledge of Zed engines is limited, hopefully some local members can help you out from here.

cheers Paul

Just for info, the socket is 27mm. You'll need a fairly long bar to get enough leverage to turn the engine though.

got the radiator out now

what are the oil pipes that connect to the radiator?

any ideas?

how can i stop the crank moving when i want to take the pulley wheel off?

as soon as i try to turn it the whole thing spins! i would have thought could do it by putting it in gear but its an auto so that wont work.

any ideas people?

thanx

got the cambelt off now.

its got 20 teeth missing where it sat at the crank!!

that explains why only the bottom half of the engine was working lol

Hi Mark, glad to see your making some progress with the car, I know you have a limited tool kit and it must be a real ball ache to work on a zed like that, keep going you'll get they in the end.

yeah thanx m8

once i finally work out how to set the timing i can start to put it back together!

  • Author

well ive put it back together and i have no extra bits left over

now i just need to find someone with jumpleads as battery deceased

then can see if it going to work again m8

I had eaxtcly the same thing happen to me, put the new belt in started no problem. Good luck.

If you've tried to turn the engine with the timing gear disconnected you WILL have bent valves.

well it has turned over now but not fired up.

engine is now flooded. so going to take plugs out tomorrow and clean them!

there is no knocking from valves so am hoping they are fine!!
