my NA has a problem, its hesitant when you lift your foot of the accelerator and put it back on. It also drops the revs when you try and pull away.

Ptu`s are the same on TT and NA, the running issues you have are not uncommon and the usual connections need checking like temp sensor, tps, ptu etc. and also check the throttle balance.

Cleaning the throttle bodies and butterflies is always a good idea as they can get oiled up and this disturbs the air flow at just the throttle openings / closings you mentioned.

cheers Jeff, would it be worth changing the PTU over first or start somewhere else??

if you know anybody locally who has a 300 i would ask them if you can try thier PTU on your car, if it fixes it then buy a PTU, if not then its something else, either way your not waisting money on something you dont need.

you might be able to use some carb cleaner??? the spray sort.. take off teh pipes and spray directly onto the throttle bodies.. or take the throttle bodies off it's only 4 bolts a side and clean them properly........

There might be an easier way or the spray might not be a good idea... i'm sure some one will lt you know :D

Spray seemed good when I used the on the calibra, I was after where it located more than anything

the throttle boddies are the 2 big thing bolted on the plenum either side.. they're what your hard pipes connect on to....the butterflies are just inside the throttle boddies... ;)

If you look in the FAQ section at engine pics by numbers its No. 5, has something to do with the revs. I was always under the impressionist that it would also keep the revs high to about 1500 when you pull up to juctions, I never have this on the NA, did have it on the tt though

How do i disconect the throttle bodies from the throttle, dont wanna do it in the wrong place

Clean the filtter or replace if standard and remove the MAF and give it a good clean with break disc cleaner. The do the throttle bodies. If neither solve the problem then get the TPS checked and reset.. Also on thing that I have found on both NA's I've had is that the UK Spec TT pugs where in the car and they are too cool. Changing them does make a noticable difference.

Also just give all the hoses and intake pipes a once over to ensure you have no leaks

sorted it yesterday, cleaned the throttle bodies, replaced the rubbish spongey air filter for my apexi one, replaces the non genuine ebay maf for my genuine nissan one. running well now:)

Cool, way to go. Do check the plugs though. the right grade does make a big difference to the way it responds. Biggest improvement in responce though is defo lightened under pully and lightened flywheel. Then get some 2 fast 2 cool headers of flee bay and you'll have a very quick car. Oh yes a chip off John Dixon as well.

I'm only using it till I get another TT, I just wanted it running right for when I sell it or break it

Hi Jeff,

I've recently bought a Z and would like you to have a look at it as it has some issues.

You're very highly recommended so can I please have your email address and phone number so we can arrange something?

Thanks.
