Too right. Blair is the worse thing that has happened to this country. And they only got in power by the people who vote Labour all thier life and have no idea on politcs.

Hospitals are worse, education is worse and not free, house prices are sky high. When I finish university I will have to try get a mortage for a £100,000 house (Now the average cost of a house) and pay off £10,000 of student loans which I have to take because as soon as I start Uni it get given a bill for £1,100 a year to be educated. Also Bush is fisting Blair so far up his **** he can use him as his dummy.

hehehe the good old student grant debate I used to be well against paying education fees but now my views have changed. At the end of the day some people weren't born clever enough to go on to higher education. These people just have to bite the bullet and get a job when they leave school/college. What did they used to get? I'll tell you shall I They get taxed as soon as they start working. They also have to pay national insurance. Now, because they haven't been able to go to uni their salary is considerably lower. However, once you graduate, you are (usually) in a position to start on a a salary of at least £20k. So, yeah, thats really fair. Pay students not to go to work and further their education, so they can jump the ladder when they come out and earn a far greater wage. Hmmm paying some people and giving them an advantage and basically making the more disadvantaged pay towards them???? Make up your own mind!!! LOL

If some one starts getting paid 20k when they leave uni they would probably be close to 30k by the time they are 30ish and they will pay a hell of a lot more tax than some one who has been on £8,000 all thier life.

Seeing as the whole country is run by the Civil Service, and nothing has really changed since the days of 'Yes, Minister/Priminister' why don't we just get rid of the moronic, self-serving grinning sheep we have sitting in the Commons and let the 'faceless' lot carry on like they always have. This would reduce the tax bill in that we wouldn't have to pay their HUGE salaries and EXPENSES (or fund 2 Jags), and there would be more room on telly for good stuff instead of watching some Party Gobsh1te driveling on about things they have NO CLUE on (but TONY said so, it must be right)

Politics is so complicated, but I agree with duffer about the student thing. I was lucky enough to get my degree before you had to pay tuition fees etc. and the grants were frozen.

 

I reckon there were and probably still are too many people doing degrees -let's face it most education is not used in the workplace -it's simply about who can get the most qualifications. I reckon they should make ALL exams harder to differentiate the duffers from the brainboxes better and only let a few bright/talented ones go for degrees.

 

When a student, you have loads of time and no money.

When you work, you have lots of money and no time !!

 

What I don't like is the continuation of the system of unfair career progression - tied places at Cambridge and Oxford, perpetuation of a stupid calculating and devicive class system. Royalty should stop. Ethnics in this coutry should be British or Fook off ! No Mosques FFS. This is BRITAIN ? I couldn't believe it when I saw ethnics in this country supporting Bed Linen & attacks on USA - they should be deported for that FFS !!

 

I'm not racist, but I think we are too soft on other races who take the pi55 out of us I reckon - we could not do in their country now, what many of them do here FFS. Can't take your turban off to ride a bike - fook off to India then !!

 

I used to think Europe was a good thing -you know countries getting on and sharing common ideal - but I reckon there's more shitt comin' from Europe than benefits !

I beg your pardon??? LMAO I have an A in a-level physics, B in maths and a C in chemistry and general studies(general guesses more like LMAO). No degree though - failed that because I was in manchester and drinkin is better than learning LOL

No - what annoys me is the political correctness which means you have to allow people of different religions and cultures to live here but not to be bound by our rules or language etc.

 

Speak Indian in India, speak English in England. Ethnics are being brought up with little understanding of English but who are fluent in Punjab or something because they are brought up in area full of their own kind who they speak to in Punjab? and go to a Mosque and a school with no whites etc. and are taught English as a second subject FFS ! That's not right in my book ! Many of them also reproduce like rabbits, so that you'll soon find it hard to find a white person.

 

I know our colonial past means English went to India etc. and did things in a British manner, but this does not happen now. No matter what you say, people prefer their own kind and if you live in another country you should obey the rules and ways of living imho.

 

When i was at Uni, 2 of the funniest and friendliest lads were a Nigerian and a guy from Hong Kong, so you can hardly call me a racist as I was friends with them !

Well done Nelson on touching on THE most sensitive subject on earth (other than how to mod your Z!!) It's a real dilemma I know. I went to a school in West London that was 30% white and 70% ethnic (obviously) I know where you are comming from!

It's one of those things where you will never be right no matter what you say. We all enjoy the benefits of a multi-cultural society (Curry, sezchwan, rap, blues etc.)but we hate it when our 'normal' way of life is affected by someone from a different background/culture. Same could be said for everything from the class system to what car you drive (I look down on him because....)

I agree on certain levels and disagree on others. Racism is a bad thing, YES, but it is not just confined to white folk. Some of the most blatantly racist people I have met have been from foreign cultures, and should know better as they have been on the recieving end!

I went out with an Indian girl once, and had to keep the relationship secret from her family. I had a friend who was Jewish who wasn't even supposed to TALK to non-jewish people according to his family. I know Indian people who hate 'Paki's', Kenyan people who HATE Nigerians, and lets face it we ALL hate the French!(hehehe) It's all down to a lack of understanding brought about by a lack of dialog. So in that respect I do agree with you that English should be taught as a FIRST language at ALL schools. If we can't communicate we can't even start to understand each other.

 

It's about time we all found something better to do, black, white, coloured whatever.

When it is recognised that a group of people are discriminated against, the pendulum usually swings too far the other way, in an attempt to redress the balance; but in going too far it can do more harm than good imo.

My understanding is that the aim of getting 50% of student to Uni is reduce the youth unemployment.

 

Unemployed youths cost the tax payer money - Students cost nothing as they have to borrow money to educate themselves!
