The other day I was waiting outside my local Tesco Extra supermarket for my girlfriend.

 

The Z was gleaming and it was just going dark so the lights were on. It must of looked pretty good as nearly everyone that came oout of the supermarket was staring at it.

 

After about 10 minutes of waiting, in my rear view mirror approaching was a brand new Silver Audi R8 with its immensly bright daytime running lights on, it krept past me as he looked for a parking space.

 

I had a quick look around and not one person, not even just one looked at it.

 

Yet moments before people were turning their heads to look around the Z...

 

Why was this? Is it because people purposely wont look at supercars like R8`s, or do you think it was because it was just chance that when he went past no "car fans" were coming out of the supermarket?

Because the Zed is a far better looking car imo

people know about the r8 so they dont really bother about it where as hardly anyone knows about the 300 so it grabs attention as its something new to them thats what i find anyway

R8 just looks like an Audi TT to non car enthusiasts

R8's suck and are everywhere round here, although nobody looks at my zed :( and it made a little boy cry :(

Allthough it´s an Audi, I have to say, I like the R8. When a R8 stands next to me and my Z, and people look only for the R8, I press the horn for 10 sec without stopping,

- and everyone looks at me ;-)

MTM gives the R8 a supercharger, reaches 530 hp, quite good...

as already said, R8 looks like a TT, where as the zed looks like nothing else and is much more eye catching

I get the same my way! I parked up by an Audi R8 i was looking at it thinking cool with the owner putting stuff in the boot and 4 Chavs came up to me asking bout mine and didnt even bat an eyelid at his!!

 

1 good thing about the Fast n Furious Films! Every1knows Supras and Skylines but not the 300 so they are all like Wow WTF car is that!! and the R8 well as already stated looks like an angry Audi TT :P

I quite like the R8, looks seriously mean in person. Pictures don't really do it much justice and don't convey how low/wide it is

they arent that low really, parked the zed next to one at lakeside and the zed was a decent amount lower.

You'd be surprised at what kids recognise. I had most of the front off my 40 yr old Stingray the other day and a 12 yr old said to his mate "Oh look, that's a Corvette Stingray." I was amazed because the lights and bumper were off and most adults ask "What kind of car is that, even when it's complete!"

dont agree with you on the tt, think they are dull and ugly (imo)

but Id sell vital organs and my zed for an R8.

lol none taken, i just found it fascinating at what I witnessed

i think generally the R-8 is all over the tv with it bein a new car, and with it bein expensive passers by will pull their nose up at it either out of jealousy (because lets face it joe bloggs cant afford it) and at the end of the day your not gunna come across a rough r8 yet. Whereas the 300zx is an old car, and to see an old car in good nick shows enthusiasm in the car. plus most people 30 onwards probably wanted a 300zx or similar (supra etc) in their younger days and never got round to owning one. Finally the 300zx is more realistic to own and i think and therefore makes their little daydream more realistic. i know 3 or 4 years ago i used to drive past c and s woods to go next door to the petrol station and i used to love havin a chat with the 300zx owners that had travelled from all over to see phil at c and s woods. n 2 me they were more interesting than ferraris and stuff coz i knew in my early twenties i wud end up with one.

Not only did my passenger promptly tell me to slow down as i drove past it, but the driver and passenger of the r8 gave me one hell of a dirty look as i crept past! lol

To a Car enthusiast sure, but I stand by what i said - to non-car enthusiasts it just looks like an Audi TT which you see everywhere, so people dont tend to pay them any attention.

 

Whereas the 300zx does'nt resemble anything else, so non-car enthusiasts will look...does'nt matter which looks better or which they prefer, something very different to the norm is what gets initial attention.

and i stand by my comment, R8's suck!

The only reason the R8 was made was because Nicky Clark didn't want a cheap old common TT!

So he commissioned Audi to make him a superhairdresserscar!

I quite like the R8. True, can't really compare it to a Z or to a TT, although it bares a striking resemblance to the TT. It's not an imaginative choice though and they are overpriced. The new V10 one that's coming out is as expensive as a nearly-new Gallardo which I'd MUCH rather have.

 

The thing I really hate about new Audis though are those horrid LED running lights. The person at Audi who thought that this would be a 'quality' and 'nice' look should be shot. The new A4 looks ugly from the back and if you're unlucky enough to see a white or silver one from the rear, it looks just like a harlequin baby. Shame, as the previous model was probably their nicest looking saloon car.

It was actually an m3, an evo 7 and a TT supra............we must have upper market chavs in edinburgh! :p:p
