Stereotypes that 300zx owners face? I can imagine that many must associate Z owners with the boy racer crowds. Although it seems that the majority of the members of this forum seem to be well over the boy racer age group (no offence!). If there is a common conception that Z owners are boy racers, then does this make life harder when it comes to dealings with the fuzz?

I know that generally the police don't cut any slack for boy racers, but how do the police handle situations when it comes to Z owners? When I had the 330, I never had any trouble with police and never got stopped at any time during my ownership of that car. However, in my opinion the Z looks a bit more conspicuous then a 330. With that in mind, do many of you get stopped at all? By that I mean, just a random stop and search, routine check, etc etc.

As a born again Chav I have never been pulled by the Police in the ten years of owning my Zed.Had loads of them stop and have a good look at it and allways had nice comments.Even pull round my garage for a look and a chat.Cool as fook init:cool:

Only time I've ever been pulled by the police in my Z was when I was in France a few years ago.

I think I've only been pulled over 3 times in my life.

Most people don't even know what a Z32 is, so there are very few pre-conceptions and stereotypes. Some people think they are a bit 'chest-wig'. Whilst there are a few 'gold sovereign ring' type owners, I'd say most are from quite a broad spectrum of backgrounds.

ime ok as it looks like ime driving my sons car anyway:D

ive been pulled over twice in one day once

only ever driven the zed a few times and been pulled about 2-3 times in it. But i think its just the norm in such a populated city like london.

Yeah, sucks to live in London :( What they pull you for?

there is a member who is the bloke your describing

a car for owners to cherish and care for

You wouldn't think that with the amount of sheds there are in the UK. IMHO, they are just perceived over here as a cheap performance car that people can leave un-maintained and then throw away when it's broken. They don't have the heritage over here that they do in the US and Japan. Sure, they are peanuts in Japan, but I think they have a different following over there.

It's sad to hear that, but it's true. Although cheap, it's still a fantastic car none the less.

I've had three Z's from the age of 25 and I've never been pulled.

Having seen a few less discerning owners come and go, I would say that it attracts a 50/50 crowd. Such a shame that some drivers just buy them because they're cheap, thrash the crap out of them then scrap them - sacrilige in my opinion.

duno, random crap, but some of the times i have been silly :D

jimmy, you sure that should not say "all" ? :hyper:

pulled once in 3years for no front number plate, the bib was more interested in what was under the bonnet and what the spec actually was

LOL i actually got pulled today in the zed for the first time in my life and got a section 59. I would'nt mind but i only went for a little drive cos i was bored - wished i'd stayed in now

iv only been pulled over a few times in the 3 years iv owned it i found for the first while of owning it the police followed me for a bit when they saw it just cause it was a new car around here, ok now though

???

LOL i'll tell the story in simple terms.

I went past a mobile speed camera catching people coming in the opposite direction and i told an oncoming car to slow down - that car happened to be an unmarked police car who then turned round and came after me. However i did'nt know he had so i did what i usually do when i got onto the mile long stretch of clear road with fields on either side and put my foot down. He then caught up and pulled me for doing that! - Not for speeding cos he could'nt prove it and not for waving him to slow down, but i guess he had to do me for something so he dressed it as careless/inconsiderate driving

Hey ho i've accepted it :o Now if i get pulled in the next 12 months for the same offence they can seize my car and i'll have to pay £150 to get it back. :(

Not a great day, but could of been worse really - i could of been travelling with him behind me or summit

I'm 34 and will always get pulled over if I drive throgh london to the other side.

They check my legal tints, they bitch to me about my number plate, I've even been pulled over for a police officer to ask:

Cop: Do you know the speed limit down this road.

Me: Yes, it's 30mph

Cop: Are you sure ?

Me: Yes

Cop: Ok, well as long as you know.

And that was it ?. problem was I wasn't even going over 30mph, but he stopped me to double check I knew the speed limit. :x:

Whilst there are a few 'gold sovereign ring' type owners,

The chap i bought my z from had two hand fulls of those, he was a white, older version of B.A Baraccus.

Never been pulled in the z, i suppose its because im hardly ever in it. Only been pulled once and that was in my supra, they did a proper good cop bad cop routine, one was a complete tw^t wilst the other was a reasonable bloke.
