I have just got back from having my new tyres fitted, I have kept the old ones for potential track use. When the fitter handed them to me he informed me that there had been a puncture repair to one tyre, okay I thought, no probs. He then went on to say that it was a plug repair and that it is only legal for agricultural use in the UK, and he's very suprised that it hadn't blown!!!!!!!!!!! If you haven't come across a repair of this nature before, it's basically a bit of impregnated rope that is stuffed in the hole, thereby stopping the air leak. I trying not to think about what would have happened if it had given out on Saturday on track! A lesson ther…

OK, there may be a game of UT tonight. I saw maybe as last time there was a big problem with version incompatibilities and half the people couldn't join Warrens server, but had no problem joining mine (and vice versa). Anyway, after reading a few FAQs on the subject and getting a slightly different version of the game, it should be on for tonight. Keep your eye on this thread for updates and a possible IP address (I hope!). The game is likely to start at about 9pm. Andy

Hi guys, Just a quick question for the techies amongst us. I bought a simple Xenon timing light (non-inductive) and couldn't get it to work. I know you have to take the No.1 cylinder coil pack apart but the metal spring/sensor thingy on the timing lead wouldn't go in series with the disassembled coil pack. The spring/sensor is tapered and just wouldn't go in far enough. I'm now about to exchange it for an inductive timing light but was wondering if that would work better. I know that the clamp has to be around the black wire loop on the PTU but I've recently seen a post on here that suggests that this method is highly inaccurate as it picks up the signal fo…

Spent most of Saturday removing and cleaning, just one, of my headlights and have learnt many things :- This is bloody hard work and is no trivial job, my hands (still) hurt, my knuckles are skinned and I really hate Nissan sometimes. The standard airbox is not supposed to come out. In fact I suspect, given the way the pop rivets are facing that it is assembled when in the car. We could make it 10 times easier to remove by brazing some captive nuts to the underside of the bracket and using screws from inside the airbox In order to remove the LH headlight I had to remove the airbox and the electric fan. Once again, if there was a captive nut underneath, rath…

INJECTORS FROM - Russ Collins of R.C. Engineering Please let me shed some light on the injector subject also, or should I say, let me turn on the lights for you. Injectors do in fact come with different internal resistance. (Impedance). High resistance, called "Saturated", and low resistance, called "Peak and Hold", are the two types commonly used today. At this time, - 90% - of all automobiles, including the Japanese, are using Saturated - 12 to 16 Ohm Injectors. Toyota uses Sat. injectors in all but the Turbo Models. Earlier models used a mix of the two. The, electro-magnetic solenoid, fuel injectors used in all automobiles today are all grandchildren of the Be…

Hi ya guys.Has today been a good zed day or what, after regretfully letting Deano down by forgetting to collect his service kit (lots of sorry groval for been an idiot) I spent an afternoon under Danny`s silver zed in search of his mystery engine noise/rattle/detonation.whilst me and Danny lay on cold concrete under his car for ages, we discussed and cursed Nissan`s failure to even get the simplest jobs right! To those who don`t know the story so far following a belt and pump change at the local Nissan garage a noise that sounded to all intention like detonation / pinking but some time a metal rattle has turned a perfectly well adjustable guy into a frustrated animal (…

Hello all, I am about to purchase a reprogrammed ECU for my Z, and I have it down to 2 chips, the JWT ECU and the S.E chip. I was wondering how many people have the JWT/S.E chips, and how do you find each? which one produces more power/torque? has anyone had both in their car? and how do they compare? Thanks for your help, Brian.

Posted to our local 300 mailing list - FYI - I've been on a mission to make my 300 stop and I scored a set of R32 GT-R calipers with Apexi Slotted rotors. I've cooked my stock brakes so many times it's not funny so decided to up the braking power. The final setup will be Mintex 1144 for road use, Ferodo DS3000 for track use with HTX 114 fluid, stainless lines, along with a brake stopper mounted to the front right strut tower. Note I'm not rich otherwise I'd have an AP 6 pot setup with 360mm x 36mm discs.. but thats $8000NZD I don't have. ==================================== They rotors are visibly *much* bigger than the stock rotors. The stock jobs look pretty fri…
