I think my PTU has gone funny or is going funny as reading through the searches its seems to be pointing here. Here are the symtoms, some my relate to other problems though. + Engine dies sometimes when I de-clutch. + When cold has major flat spots like its drowning on its own fuel. + Sometime seems to cut back like its hit the rev limiter, but its only at 5000 rpm. This happens when cold only. + When warm, idle is lumpy and erratic. + Went onto 5 cylinders mid journey on way home. + Still on 5 cylinders after restarting 20 mins later. + Didnt notice any smoke out the back and temp seemed fine. Having got my new zed tucked up in its lovely new garage, I've got some cash available to begin some modifications. Need some help in spending my cash. I've got 5 - 6k to blow on the car. was thinking of : Same colour respray (£2000 ???) 99 Spec bumper (420) leather retrim (1000) carputer (600) New suspension Anyone else think of any better things to spend the cash on (prefferably on the car, my car... :rofl: ) not to fussed about increasing the performance too much it's plenty quick for me at the moment. If I don't spend the cash soon it'll end up turning into a conservatory :eek:

Need to get new anti rollbar droplinks for the front, they a bit worn, now I have TEIN aftermarket suspension fitted, and need to know the length of the standard droplinks before I get replacements, just in case these are shorter as the car is lowered. So if anyone minds crawling under their zed with a tape measure I'd greatly appreciate it! ;)

I know I can buy them, but I can get them from a mate gratis if I know the size... found Blackmagic's picture (below) and got some M12 (not sure of pitch) which go in fine but don't 'bite' like I expected - standard calipers & bolts are much harder to tighten in comparison. Am I missing something, or were the threads on my old calipers just completely full of shite?!? Rich

Theyre a bugger to get to arent they. Finally get to it and now I realise what was meant about 'splicing' spade and bullet connectors. For those who haven't looked, the car (jdm) has a bullet type connector but the h3 bulb I bought has a spade type connector. So what I did was replace the spade on the new bulb with the bullet from the old. Now this obviously means I'd have to do this whenever a fog bulb goes. So to those who have done this before, did you get another spade connector to put on the car side? Thus eliminating the need to swap conectors every time a bulb goes? Weird things though, since they act as normal lights when on and even though my fog …

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 1991 300ZX TT auto, hopefully someone can help.... At the moment, when "D" is selected the car won't change into top gear. When accelerating, the 'box changes from 1st to second with no problems, but then won't shift into 3rd. At the moment, we've checked the fluid level which is fine (checked after a run with the engine running).... Can anyone tell me if there is a fuse that controls the shift into top that could have blown, or if there are any other obvious things to check? Thanks, Shelly

ok guys i think i've found the brake problem. Callipers are on upside down!! but thats exactly how i took em off so someone before must have pressure bled it. Anyway i need someone as in NOW to pop over and push the brake pedal for me. If you can help please give me a call on 07732 057 628. the car is in Tattenhall just outside Chester. Ring me don't post as I'm leaving the house now to swap the callipers and the car isn't where the PC is!! Please someone help as i need the car tomoz morning. Regards Rich

I recently bought a second Z its a NA 90 5spd... Engine couldn't start so i change the engine and the computer for a 95 We start the engine... everything seems to go fine... The engine couldn't stop :mac1: once we stop the engine. the PTU started to smoke and it was really hot. any idea? :confused:

Hi guys,was wondering if you could help me with a prob,my car is running great ,but was not boosting like it used to ,so i did an ecu check and got a code 34. det sensor or harness,my question is ,as it is obviously running in safety boost is it alright to run the car in safety or should i get it sorted asap,the thing is i've spent so much on the car lately, i could do with a little rest ,or at least my credit card could,lol.so is it alright to leave it as is or do i have to bite the bullet and get it done,if so is it an expensive job to do ,cheers guys for your help. :bow:
