Went to start the Zed today and she turned over very slowly, then died. Tried again and this time there was no turnover, but a whiff of white smoke from under the bonnet directly above the battery! I opened the bonnet and looked for anything awry - no smouldering wires, no funny smell, nothing. Back in the car the clock had reset so obviously voltage had dropped way down. Next try I just heard the starter solenoid click. Though I'd try one more time. This time turned over, small whiff of smoke and she started. I shut down and dug out the voltmeter - solid 12V at the terminals, still no visible problems. Watching carefully started again. This time perfectly norm…

I just finished installing a set of UK Clocks into my 1990 JDM TT Auto. This seems to have rectified an issue that I had had with the auto box shift pattern...which now seems much smoother and to change up and down at the correct revs :cool3:. All of the warning lights and gauges are working with the exception of the speedo. I'm assuming it must be a fault with the speedo unit as it was working previously with the JDM clock set...so unlikely to be anything outside of the instrument cluster.....is there anything I can check/test on the cluster itself? Also....when driving...as you pull up to a stop...just before you stop there is a chime or ping :confused1:…

I have a spare set that I am going to recondition as I'm rebuilding all the visual aspects of the top half of my engine, so with that comes freshly powder coated rocker covers, re-plated springs and throttle mech and also powder coated throttle housings to match. I've stripped most of one of the throttles down and will renew the 3 or 4 plastic bushings/bearings and can't unscrew the screws holding the butterfly to the spindle. In addition, once that's removed, should the spindle just slide out? I've removed everything else around it. If that's the case and you're left with 2 bearings, what did people do who've had theirs powder coated do with those? Leave them in sit…

Title says it all and all the way through the operation I kept telling myself that it wont work but carried on anyway, so theres an aftermarket gauge sitting in a cluster with a temp and boost gauge for company, temp is wired off the dash gauge and seems to work, boost, well, easy considering the vacuum pipe was already there (it does work btw!) but oil pressure, firstly it went off the scale, then sat about 40, then knocked out the dashboard gauge which doesnt move at all now. I know, I know, should have gone through a sender separately and did it properly, but while the clocks were off the temptation to just "give it a try" was too great!

Hi All, Driving to work this morning and the HICAS light came on.... Is this something to be worried about or could it just need power steering fluid topping up? Had to get into work so didn't have time to check. Thanks

Ever since my spray job my drivers doors not shutting properly and it needs adjusted. Never done this so is it easy enough ? Is it just a matter of slackening the three bolts and holding the door higher then tightening ? Only issue I foresee is that the wing can't come off as I have skirts going over the top of them.

Hey, Fitting my proper cruise stalk with the steering cowl from the airbag model of steering wheel but the cowl is longer. The cowl from the series 4 airbag model has the proper cutouts but when trying to fit an older wheel the plastic obstructs the wheel fitting properly. Seems Nissan changed the cowl between steering wheel models so my 3 spoke wheel rubs off the cowl now. Just wondering if you have the older type and just dremel'd a hole out as I think that's the only way to make them both fit ?

Hi all! Sorry if my first post is a cry for help but its because of this problem that ive registered to be honest but i'll stick around for a bit, honest! Aaaanyway, got a 300zx that someone had attempted to "bling up" with boost/oil pressure/temp gauges and putting white stickers over the black clocks etc, im sure you get the picture! lol. Removed all that but in removing the fuel gauge sticker I had to take the needle out, this is where my current problem began because re-inserting it and turning the ignition on results in the needle going all the way up and past the full mark (if only it were true!), tank has about a quarter in. Any help or advice will be g…

Do doing another one of them jobs I hate doing on a zed:(,replacing the clutch because I noticed when on the last track day the gears got harder to get,so stripped the box of this morning to find this! Doesn't look to healthy does it? Some of the friction pads have come away! And really worn flywheel and pressure plate. Noticed the crank seals gone as well so ordered one for tomorrow, thinking of it on doing this job should change this anyway,so we'll have to finish it tomorrow now:(

Bitch wants me dead!!! Come out of work and put foot on the brake and ...............nothing. she now at the garage with fluid leaking out. Got blown pipe right under centre of the car. Annoying bit is that I make my own pipes just can't get under the car to do it so off to the garage where I'm sure they are going to charge me a small fortune for a job I could have done myself for about 15 pence.

Since my heater matrix decided to throw a hissy fit, I've removed it and I'm looking to put a permanent bypass in. I've looped the two pipes on the engine together but was wondering if anyone knows what the outside diameter of the two pipes are?

Staying up north has its challenges at time with the bad weather. But as a lesson learned when working on the engine I now strap the bonnet down with a bungee cord. How many folks have been caught out and the wind caught the bonnet and slammed it down ? Three years ago mine did exactly that and I knocked a chunk out my wing and bonnet as the bonnet holder happened to fall outwards when the bonnet slammed. But a bungee cord in the right place will stop that from ever happening now :)

Done a quick search but not much info about them. I can get a set of 245/35/18's and 285/30/18's for €530. Read some good reviews but would like real world opinions from other Zedders, I know JimmyTT has them and Pete was thinking of getting them... What are they like??? Wet and dry driving??? Any feedback?? Thanks

Hello Everyone, So after looking at prices for interior kits, full retirms and the like I decided to bite the bullet and go at it myself. I sewed a picture of a bird when I was 7, so how hard can a car interior be?... I have a tenancy to try and make things rather than buying them, for better or worse the experience is always great and learn a lot. The plan is to retrim the arm rests, door cards, gear and handbrake gaitor, steering wheel and seats. First off, the Center arm rest which was trimmed in a crappy leather/vinyl. So I ordered a bunch of Italian Leather, needles, thread, Calico Cotton, and went guns ablazing. I borrowed mums sewing machine …

OK, just finished putting the last bits of the slicktop back together, not convinced it's fixed, although is running very well, I've hardly any boost similar to when I first got it, I've replaced 90% of the hoses, and refitted the Intercooler, replaced all the missing gadgets on the engine, I've tried to do a leak test using an old clutch cap ( actually a perfect fit) can't hear any leaks, although it seemed to be losing alot of air into the crankcase, particularly the dipstick tube, assuming the pcv valves have gone, hopefully someone can confirm, only used 10psi ( due to not having a compressor at home, used large tyres pressurised to 10psi as my source) Now…
