General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I have a swb tt, and has been set up to run up to 1.5 bar boost, and has undergone an ecu chip, various internal components etc etc. It's going on the rollers in march and I'd like to have some kind of idea of what sort of power to expect at around 1.3 / 1.5 bar boost, bhp and torque, as people are asking at what I'm expecting and I've no idea to be honest. I think these are about 280 - 300bhp standard are they? So any guesses on power running around 1.3 rr 1.5 would be super smashing great :smash:

Well got round to doing my Zed yesterday for the dreaded compression test. All was going well then it happend!!!! :headvswal One of my cylinders was shot :cry: . Not even a reading. All new plugs were put in the day before and were black except one which had been nicely cleaned by the fuel that had decided to flow through it. Pi##ed off is not the word. Does anyone have any idea of how i can get the my car back to the uk. I havent much help out here :cry: :cry: :cry: Why now ffs

Need the part numbers off of both. Bought some injectors which were supposed to be 555s, fitted them to the car & they ran like crap - very lean. Have taken them out of the rail & they are completly different colour to Nismo 555s & they have Nissan part numbers on them. Am trying to figure out what these injectors actually are before I waste any more money on them. Jay

Thinking of buying one of the Blue Flame with Oval pipe exhausts,anyone got them recommend them? I have a Mongoose twin pipe but fancy something a little different/better sounding...... Any thoughts...also any HP gain (probably more noise than gain!!!)

What 300ZX have we got that could be feaured in magazines? Obviously they need significant mods, either cosmetic or performance related. Off the top of my head: Jason's CJ's Mac's Karl's Are there any others making 500+bhp or that are real visual stunners?

While I am now actively lookingfor a zed, I have been toying with the idea of dropping a V8 into one. (ever since a guy I know has decided he wasn't going to drop a V8 into his morris minor and has finally decided to sell his engine and gearbox on!) I am negotiating a deal on the engine and box as we speak and need donor car. There is an NA for sale on this forum which looks to me like it would make a good basis for the conversion. What would be the cheapest way to get it recovered from north London to Birmingham. I couldn't tow it, as it would be completely unroadworty and I have just asked the AA and they wouldn't bring it if its not taxed and mot'd. A…

Hi Guys, I have got a swb manual Z, which has currently got full tein suspension. As some of you will be fully aware it is so harsh it knocks your fillings out. Therefore i am looking to change it any help ? I like the feeling of stock suspension but my car at the moment is really low and i like it that way, could i possibly get standard shocks and use my tein springs ?? Any comments grately received.

Has anyone ever swapped a vq30DET engine into a zed ?? I'm just playing with the idea... I know its an all aluminum so this should give the zed a better power to weight distribution!! What are your views on this .....

I have just had my renewal through from Houghtons. They want £385 for a years fully comp on a 5000 miles per annum classic policy. Mods as sig declared. I am 30 years old, Full NCB living in lowish risk Surrey. To be honest I am way to busy (maybe lazy!) to call about this year and Houghtons have always come out good for me in the past but does anyone think I can do better elsewhere? Cheers, Justin

i dont know if this has been discussed before but how about the club buying a datascan cable etc for 75 quid and members could borrow/hire it for say 15 a time that way the club makes some more money and we dont all have to shell out for the cable .... sorry if this makes me sound tight fisted but i am from scotland simon p.s if this happens can i please have first go :tongue:

She has gone to great home, a lovely couple who will love her and boy did he love her when he took her up the M1, makes your face go like a teenagers with "that" grin :D cav584 (chris) bought her so he will be on here much more now. This morning i started my 300zx, took off towards work as usual, and about 300 yards down the road, my speedo needle went dead and i lost my power steering. I pulled over and turned the ignition off, then on again and hey presto...a working speedo and power steering. This happened again as i pulled out of Morrisons at lunchtime....please help :(

Can anyone help? I saw a picture of a Zed, posted in the last two weeks, on this site, that had two twin ariels (antennas) on either side of the rear boot lid! I cant remember what the post was about, but think it might have been for sale, but not really sure (I know a load of help arnt I? :rolleyes: ) Anyone any ideas? can you point me in the right direction? Or even a picture of the same, it's the ariels I'm interested in. TIA Dave

when i put my foot down the turbos kick in fine but about 2 seconds later the car stops accelerating and it makes a funny humming noise.i think its when its changing gear. then when it does change the gear it stops slowing down. its an automatic. sorry if this is hard to understand. its hard to explain in writing! Has any one got any ideas what the problem is? i thought it might be one of the gaskets going on the turbos. Thanks Nick

Well I'm not sure how I've managed it but I've just done 180 miles on £30. I've got a bit of a boost problem at the mo' so I've not been tempted to "play" as much as normal but you know how it is when someone is trying to hustle, you've just gotta show them. I must be driving like a complete poof!!!!! :x: :rofl: Oh, it's a jap spec TT manual.

My mechanic put this idea in my mind and now he avoids the subject but i'm having a catch up with him soon and i'm going to push this if it's possible. Keeping in mind the engine is currently out, engine rebuilt well getting there. and i will have room for 2 extra small turbos. The idea is that the 2 smaller turbos will feed the larger turbos creating very little lag. I'm not sure how it would work myself as he's the mechanic but is it possilbe?? and if it is how would it be done?? One other what turbos could i consider for the job and what cars run them??

Is it worth doing? What are the pros and cons? I took my head and block to a local engine shop and he said it's not worth doing but if that's the case why is it so many people get it done. So i'm after other people advice.

As above. Just fitted the drivers side PCV valve and now there is a rattling sound coming from that area!! Is it the valve opening and shutting or could I have upset something else when moving all the other gubbings out of the way? Any advice welcome!! Andy

Yo yo and thrice yo I am after an ECU upgrade chip that has good mappings. Who could supply me with one and can i fit this myself to a jap import swb manual TT. My zed's engine is stock with a Greddy Profec II B boost controller. With the ECU i was thinking of having a boost setting of 13psi, just short of 1 bar.
