Here's my next post I've got a horse box which I have recently fixed the small starter motor on the on board generator. this afternoon I was pulling out the gen and to achieve this I had to remove the live and earth leads and pull them through a hole. Now I'm not stupid..well I suppose this post might disagree... so I used the isolator key to isolate the battery, so carried on, now I was not to know the power to the generator bypassed the isolator and went straight to the 2 x 19" long batteries. Yep.. as I pulled the wires the live and earth touch, not briefly, but forced together by the narrowing to the hole. Well sparks flew, wires got welded, and from the batterie…

Before I refit my refurbished Brembos, I want to clean up the brake pad rods, clips and springs as I don't think cleanliness were the concern of the brakes' last owner!! They're heavily coated in baked on carbon. Autosol removes a little, but I was wondering if there was a solution for dissolving it away. I have tried Cola before anyone suggests that! lol

Got a few posts to do to get some opinions, here's the first... My trolley jack (3 foot long) has got a problem, when jacking up the front or rear, does about 2-3 strokes with full lift, then the arm just goes about 70 degrees with no lift or back pressure and then only in the last 20 deg does it try to lift. this then carries on like this. My local parts store says its low on oil and needs topping up , but must only use "non foaming jack oil" which is not in, and he says it may only need a thimble full, Is this a fair diagnostic, and is he right about this jack oil, could I use "tool oil" which I use on my oil tools? Any opinions gratefully.... you know…

My boss has a BMW in storage with no main battery installed. It has a Thatcham Toad alarm fitted that seems to respond once we fit the car with a new battery. Locks, unlocks etc' Only problem is, we are not getting a voltage to the fuel pump. Could this still be an alarm immobiliser issue due to its onboard battery having gone flat? Is there a way to simply disable the alarm completely? or do we have to wait for the alarms onboard battery to re charge? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Redwine300

Looking into building my own garage early next year and was thinking about trying my hand at one of these : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161701648252?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Not wanting to pay that price for it so my brother and I are thinking we can build it ourselves. Has anyone seen any plan anywhere that we can work from for these sort of projects ? I already have a fairly large hut with concrete base so expanding the base should be simple and a little ground work should allow me to drive my zed up and around the side of the house.

Is it worth trying to get this do you reckon guys? With the cars becoming rarer and good examples getting more expensive, if anything happens to my car I want to make sure I'm getting properly compensated. Has anyone else got an agreed value? Or do you just not bother/care? Cheers lads.

You've got to love this vid whether your into racing or not, we perhaps all wanted to have the chance to impress our old man behind the wheel, but this vid takes it a whole step further with Max Verstappen (17 and a F1 driver) taking Dad (Jos ex F1) for a little run round Spa in a Renault RS. Flat out through Eau Rouge the little shake of the head from Jos is priceless, but Max is so in his comfort zone he looks half asleep, a very cool customer. At the end Jos who I suspect is Max's biggest critic barely acknowledges a run that has clearly taken his breadth away. This Lad is probably a bit too young for F1 and still learning his trade at the top, but make no m…

I think I have won a new contract which should be a nice long term engagement for my fledgling firm but will mean a 180 mile round trip each day. I use my Zed as my daily drive and although I know it will do the trip every day without a problem, I don’t want to pile that many miles onto it (not sure I can afford the fuel bill as well if honest!). So I am on the hunt for a new daily drive, capable of doing the mileage with ease and delivering me comfortably. I also want it to business owner, without being too flash or expensive. I am looking at £3000-6,000, any suggestions?
