In process of removing my engine but having a bit of a problem getting to the last air con pump bolt (what a ridiculous position!!) I'm guessing I need some kind of flexible extension but is it best tackled from above or below? Advice appreciated, TIA RobH

Nemesis selling GT2530 kit £2800 +VAT
US import is VAT at 17.5% plus the customs duty - which varies depending on what you're importing. Usually around 3% for car stuff I think. Some shipping methods will see you bypass customs entirely on a good day but it is lucky dip on this really. Surface mail seems to have a better chance of avoiding customs than airmail. You can always ask the sender to try the 'gift' calssification on the customs docket...again, lucky dip

Silly turbo question but here goes !
sorry dude!

AVCR = installed but a few Q's
Like Jaffa says, make sure you have no leaks. That is a very high duty cycle, really shouldn't need it. Listen for a hiss from under bonnet when you turn the ignition off. Don't forget AVC-R self learning mode doesn't work properly on TT zeds. (unless there's been a new version with a fix - I've been out of circulation for a while ;-)) RobH

Silly turbo question but here goes !
Yep, mirrors hanging off and covered in bird cr*p, not been used for a year or so but still starts on the button. Got a new house, driveway and yard now so big plans ahead ;-). Bad luck with the rack mate! You still in Handbridge?? Sounds like you're gonna be streets ahead of me with your Z hat on - might have to tap your brain in the near future ;-) BR's RobH

Silly turbo question but here goes !
Hmm..as I understand it, the pressure is equal throughout the system - both run at the same pressure, being measured at a single point on the intake side. 15 PSI is generated between the two tubs, they won't necessarily be running in perfect balance. Hi to Rich666! Still not kicked the Z habit then!? Andy Duffer - if you happen to see this, your mailbox is full, I was trying to PM you but it's not playing!! RobH

What Size Are They???
I just used some rubber 'caster cups' the type that protect your wooden floor from chair legs etc, held secure with jubilee clips! I have to admit I also made some new wheels out of chipboard and bubblewrap so don't listen to me. Best R's RobH

Importing from Japan?
Cheers guys but it's a done deal, she's put her deposit down and now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that she hasn't bought a pup! Before anyone asks - no, there was no stopping her, I've been rehearsing 'I told you so' for when it's needed... Cheers! RobH

spark plug advice
Just out of interest, Unipart are made by Champion. Having tried most suitable plugs and had lots of feedback, NGK Iridiums are better value overall than Densos, much cheaper and last twice as long as standard Denso Iridium Power plugs. Densos seem to be more fragile generally. I think a lot of negative opinion for Denso plugs is unjustified - it's usually due to people fitting the wrong part due to a lack of understanding of Denso's heat range scales. There's a lot of sharks selling on ebay etc who don't really care if they're selling you the right part or not. Denso's recommended Iridium part for Z32 is VK20PR-Z11 (not IK20 as many people have fitted) - bet not many have tried these ;-) quite expensive and difficult to get hold of, last much longer and should perform better though. Cheers, RobH

Importing from Japan?
Hi, 7K buys the car with all refurbishments. My guess is they buy right old sheds and do 'em up. Probably off the scale for auction grading. What can I say, she's buying on the strength of the colour....

Importing from Japan?
Ok, cheers guys, I'd be pretty nervous if I was her. So presumably all the dealers with 'fresh' imports sat on their courtyards have had to register them to their business or under their own name?? I s'pose it sounds reasonable that you'd prefer to be the first registered keeper rather than the dealer owning it and being the second recorded keeper yourself...

Importing from Japan?
Hi all, Sorry this isn't directly Z related. My other half wants to import a Figaro from Japan via a company called 'Algy's autos' - anyone heard of them or dealt with them? Any feedback would be most useful. Apparently they respray them to your specification (barbie pink - OMG!), new hood, full service, new leather interior etc. I think the work is done in Cyprus on the way over here during a stop off from Japan. Not cheap at just under £7K! I'm a little concerned as the importers are asking for her details, driving licence etc for customs purposes - it seems to me like her resposibility once customs have her official details, I can just imagine it being stuffed with charlie under her name so any problems and she takes the rap!? Has anyone imported in a similer way? Should she/I be worried or is this normal procedure?? Thanks in advance for any replies! Best regards, RobH

Shock boots
I used some generic steering gaitors cut to size and held in place with cable ties ;-D

rubbing noise from front on left turn
Hi all, Not had time to check it out yet, so may be something silly, but my Z seems to have developed a noise as though something is 'catching' once on every wheel revolution (speeds up with road speed). Very noticable on left turns, more lock means more noticable. Any suggestions to set me looking in the right direction?? May be as simple as something stuck in the tyre I s'pose... (probably a 6" nail in the tyre wall knowing my luck :-( ) Cheers! RobH

Installing AVC-R
I stuck mine on the firewall behind the knock sensor connector - or that general area anyway...

Servicing, platinum plugs and body work
Plug type and price depends on whether NA or TT! NA plugs are used in many other cars, are mass produced and so are cheaper - I do 'em at £36+vat for the guys on here. The TT plug is made just for the Z and has a slightly different design, £54+vat for 6.

Hicas light??
I have the same thing, I have a slow leak so have to top up with ATF every 9 months or so ;-)

Stalling when slowing down ?
Hi Chris, that's exactly my point, all that nasty pressure stays in the circuit at low boost - can't be good for the tubs...

Stalling when slowing down ?
Hi, I did similar with my Blitz valves but I'm a bit concerned that they don't vent as much/as easily as they should... Anyone know what the screw height should be for Blitz valves? Cheers, RobH

Uprated springs but not too low!!??
Hi Paul, Mike Feeney at MJP had some uprated springs made for me - standard ride height. Cost was a bit less than lowering springs. Think they're about 30% stiffer overall - car handles well now anyway, teamed with KYB gas adjustables - I can supply these if you need any... Cheers! RobH

Stalling when slowing down ?
aha! Mr D!! Hope things are good with you!? I'm just a bit worried about winding the adjusters in and the b*ggers not opening - is this a possibility or do they still open on max adjustment? Will no doubt be in touch soon for a check up! Got a new baby to play with now though - Honda CR500 to put on the road ;-) so car is currently second inline for cash injection. Cheers RobH

Stalling when slowing down ?
I'm using a Blitz SUS wire jobbie. Think it's possible to get replacement springs for the the blitz BOV's can anyone confirm this please? So what's the theory? That the BOV isn't closing allowing unmetered air into the system? FWIW, I've shortened some of my additional vacuum pipes as much as possible and the problem seems slightly improved. Cheers!

Stalling when slowing down ?
My TPS was new approx 1 year ago and is set correctly. Cleaned the idle unit connectors at around the same time as I was having problems with erratic tickover. My Aircon is b*ggered so I'm not sure if that test will work - it still comes on and raises the revs but I had to cut the drive belt off as the pump was making an horrendous noise. Should mention I replaced the PCV's and hoses approx 6 months ago, very little use since. No access to a ConZult unfortunately - lol, I should have bought one when you were doing the GB eh Danny?? Cheers! RobH
-
Stalling when slowing down ?
Ooer! Mine is a Jap but I'm sick of throwing money at it. Do you really think a grounding kit would help?? I'm convinced it's something vacuum related, too much of a coincidence afetr fitting the BOVs. There must be a nominal limit to the amount of exrta vacuum tubing you can successfully run off the intake circuit... I haven't tried an ecu reset yet, don't imagine it will help but at least it'll raise the idle revs for a few hundred miles ;-) Cheers!

Stalling when slowing down ?
Hi Cos, cleaned them about 6 months ago, would assume they're still sparkling.
