  1. I had something similar, turned out that I had a leak in my brake booster diaphragm, that explained the soggy brakes too but once repaired the idling was fine
  2. This is what I have on the inside, and from the outside https://goo.gl/photos/qmCzFLNSDZ1Vy7Ck6
  3. Looking inside my wheel arch it is rusted on the inside lip, your correct in saying just do the minimum The inside has what it seems surface rust along the bottom lip i have removed the inner wing Question is will this rust return if i rub it down and treat it? There are a couple of other maybe inch long where it has rusted through, i would as you say prefer not to cut out a big section and just do the minimum its just the fear of the returning rust worries me
  4. I got some screws off Bazz on here very helpful guy indeed
  5. That would be great if you could upload some pictures, see what im up against
  6. Thanks yes I've read all your thread on there, some awesome work there, how did you go about welding the rear arch was it one continuous run or was it spot by spot, any danger of the panel warping? I've seen the repair panels but im a bit apprehensive of welding a continuous weld without the panel warping.
  7. Gents does anyone have any pictures of the rear arch repair panels that are on ebay and zcenter I want to do mine but would like to see what is involved, so if there are any pictures of the work being done welded in ect and cutting would be greatly appreciated :)
  8. If I may also please Jeff
  9. Im after this section that is rust free if anyone is breaking a zed,
  10. Just a quick update, the section that was rusted underneath the rear quarter panel has been welded in, the boot floor rust section has been repaired, Also the rear part of the inner arch has been repaired. bought some epoxy primer aerosol on ebay and im very very impressed with it so far, anyone know if the repair panels on ebay or zcenter has this section in it also? its the rear part of the arch Im going to have to cut my arch out to at least 3/4 way as it is rusted inside, so best be safe and weld in a new section.
  11. Thanks, just called him now unfortunatly he doesnt sell repair panels to send out, only makes pieces to suit the car that he works on if that makes sense
  12. Thanks Tonyb, any more info at all for this guy?
  13. What is the best option for yhe arch repair panels? I believe there is a guy on ebay who sells them also zcentre sells them are they both the same panels? Anyone have pictures of yhem
  14. Well I have taken the inner wing off now complete, and I have seen the rust that is left on the inside of the outer wing... This looks like I will have to get one of those repair panels, anyone have pics of how they used there's ?
  15. I will be power wire brushing the rust again to be sure it will be gone, its difficult to try and cut it all out, hopefully this will sort it, anyone used an epoxy primer or any experience with it
  16. The strip down continues, I have opened all the spot welds and removed the sections apart, I am surprised at the amount of rust between the seams, I think it will be easier putting the sections back piece by piece using the body adhesive, I have cleaned off the rust and used jenolite to hopefully kill off what is left of the rust, now I'm not sure about what to use to repaint the steel before putting it together, I have got some immersion grade paint used on oil rigs ect promises to be good stuff, use it on bare steel, I really don't want the rust coming back so need to get this right.
  17. Great thanks Bazz, ive never done anything major like this before but ive read a few posts about how its just like changing a wing just that the tools are diffrent... well ive taken the plunge big time, your doner part was just the trick thanks, still wsiting for the interior screws if you have sent them matey
  18. So this is where im up to so far with replacing the rear section, I have opened the spot welds on the rear section to the boot floor using a spot face drill I have done the same on the donor panel I am shocked to see how poor the seams are once the paint has been stripped back as you can see this is the reason all the water seems to be getting in between the seams and causing all the rust problems, this will be something I will be addressing hence the panel bonding adhesive I will be using.
  19. Onto the outer arch section, after redwine300 inspirational post ive decided to do a similar thing...Gulp here goes
  20. cut the boot floor section off and clean clean the inner arch section to reveal more spot welds So the idea is to completely replace the rear arch section as you can see, yes it wont go in as intended during production as I cant get to the inner spot welds so a seam weld will have to do, but as my inner arch has rusted to nothing I thought this was the best way forward, I really would like to use a panel bond adhesive to put the section back in as it will not rust in the seams again, the struggle is to remove the inner arch lip from the outer arch lip, this is the lip that goes around the wheel, I don't want to damage the outer section at all so what the best way to separate these? anyone here work in a body shop?
  21. Big thanks to Bazz for the donor rear section :) this is the progress so far, a bit daunting but nothing ventured .... this is the donor section Cut the inner arch section off to reveal the outer half of the inner arch section clean where the spot welds are so I know where to drill them out with a spot face drill
  22. Por-15 is apparently really good stuff to use, will be using this on my rear subframe, bit of a ball ache doing the prep with different products, but it should be really good hardwearing stuff
