  2. after 2nd gear failed in my autobox and converting to manual, what could i do with the old autobox do i scrap it or is it any use to anyone? think it was the brake bands that had gone?

  9. hi guys, im getting trouble getting the input shaft lined up with the clutch, it seems the gearbox is hitting the top of the transmition tunnel; an it still needs to go up 10mm to enter :headvswal is there a knack for doing this? any suggestions? cheers

  13. can i just confirm that the pipework is correct in the attatched pic? the only bleed point in the system after fitting the hose will be on the slave cylinder am i correct?
  14. just got off the phone now with blackwell hydraulics and they can make one up for me, would anyone be intrested in a group buy maybe?? rough cost over the phone was £35 + vat. can i just clear up that the hose goes straight from the slave cylinder into the master and does away with all the stock origional pipework??

  17. i can get a mag based drill onto it and with a broaching tool can make the hole bigger and bush it not a problem, the damage looks bad but i can still get a pilot bushing in there and use something like jb cold weld to fill up the drill holes might just be ok should i give it a go first?
  18. oh fvck a duck chuck :headvswal what have i done, in the auto to manual conversion you need to remove the pilot bushing as i understand it!!, having looked at pictures i worked out that its about 35mm in diamiter so looking at the crank end there was a bushing in there about 20mm dia and 3mm thick came out easy enough, now this is where you do one of those stupid unpredictable things!! :nono: having getting it into my head that the bushing was 35mm thick i carried on drilling and chisseling to get this damn thing out well i made a right sows ear of things after calling mike at mjp my worse fears came true i had been chisseling and drilling the actual crank :smash::smash: what a mess, question is i am able to get the bush in with belzone e metal, and it will be running true as i have only chisseld a small portion away, should i machine a bigger dia hole and sleve the bush or would the belsona be good enough?? i understand that threre isnt any stresses on the bush as its only a guide!! any help greatly appreceated cheers

  22. second gear has been slipping so i removed the sump from my autobox to find an m8 bolt in the bottom of the sump, :smash: the head of the bolt had broken off also this would indicate streching of the bolt!! the bolt has come from the brake band servo and im thinking has this seized or is coming under exessive strain and that is why second gear isnt working?? i have replaced the bolt with a new one and will try the box again, in the filter was a few brown bits that could well be the brake band only a tea spoon full maybe!! well lets cross fingers it will work this time :rolleyes: p.s anyone know what the b shift solenoid does as it wasnt doinjg much when i drove it using the conzult?? cheers dewi.
