One thing to note about the models after 1996 is that they only have single cams because of emission regulations so make less power.

Yes unless they have had an engine swap, in which case you can check in the engine bay it will have two pipes on each side instead of one. You will have to ask the others about the manual, i just downloaded the online one. i believe there is another manual similar that came with the car but i may be mistaken. you cannot find a 1998 TT because they stopped production in 1996 :P. - - - Updated - - - Oh, ian knows better than me. Also, the manual trans is more rare so is more expensive, just something to bear in mind.
