  1. Don't need any photo evidence (although thanks for the laugh :D ). Owning a Bandit + hardcore biker = tautology Same sort of thing as "Socialist Worker" hahaha
  2. aaargh you had me going until I saw that bit. (Not worried about you, just the Zed ;) )
  3. Nothing lasts for ever and it all really depends on whether it's been thrashed / well maintained. Some people go through turbos in less than 100,000miles but others (eg mine @ 120,000, famous last words) go a lot further. Check the smoke test in the faqs also buyers guide http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/
  4. Problem is that almost no-one live in that part of London - it's almost exclusively business. A good hotel about a mile from your office is http://www.fullershotels.com/frames/1013 I haven't stayed there but any hotel run by Fullers should be fine and at least you'll be sure of getting a decent pint. To meet real people you have to move out of town. The various meets are good excuses to do this :D IIRC there's also one on the first Tuesday (?) of each month at the world-famous Ace Cafe on the North Circular. Hope that's a start :D
  5. Wheel bloke says they are rescuable no probs so thanks very much indeed Vijay. You're a wheely wheely nice bloke  Pics will be posted when done. :D
  6. Gio replied to a post in a topic in General Discussions - Non 300ZX
Another case for the Wheel Police! Your front right is the wrong way round :D
  7. Of course it's well known the bloke who invented cats eyes got the idea from looking at light reflected in a real cat's eyes (true). Just as well, really - if his moggy had been facing the other way, he'd have invented the pencil sharpener :D :D
  8. Greg: Arrr that makes sense - can anyone confirm for sure? Legrath: Zed god "let there be light!" :D thankx mrogers: manwell It'll be on full view at this weekend's rolling road day (thanks jay) Cheers - Gio :D
  9. Hallo All, on picking up my Zed after an oil cooler swap, I spotted a pipe I hadn't seen before. Anyone know what it is? There are more pics of the new oil cooler in place here . Cheers - Gio
  10. see here http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=54966&page=3 for softy southerners on Sun 16th Oct. Oh and apparently there's a journalist from Japanese Performance turning up as well :D
  11. Jay did a cracking job of organising the last meet round Farnborough way (come and see a kite factory, a nuclear bomb and three wind-tunnels). So good that my Zed won a prize :D I was so chuffed that I offered to sponsor the next prize. EG this dyno day. So there will be a prize for "Best Zed" comprising - a hand-tooled shiny trophy crafted by Jay - a slab of stubbies donated by my Zed I have no idea of what the rules are :D except the winner gets some beer and a trophy (and previous winners can't win again). So quite apart from the fun of seeing me total my knackered clutch and tyres, there's the chance of winning a unique (and liquid) trophy! Cheers all - Gio
  12. bloody 'ell, that's Bernie Ecclestone isn't it?
  13. cool - thanks guys. I first saw the "paint the silver bits above the windscreen and tailgate black so it blends with the glass" look on that yellow/black 300ZX on the Banzai stand at JAE 2004. Didn't like it then but I think I'm changing my mind - it looks good on James's
  14. I should know but I'm a dimwit so I forgot. Thanx - Gio
  15. the turbo 2+2 was never officially imported into US as I discovered when I ordered a propshaft for my turbo from the US to save a few bob and it arrived a few inches too short!
  16. depends if its UK or JDM or JDM adapted. Standard JDM takes H3C. Do a search for H3C and you will find all the advice you need!
  17. 1) Birmingham in Englandland doesn't have a "Centre for Disease Control". http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=6429&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=11864&EXPAND=485 2) There is a lab in Brimingham for CDC but it is in Birmingham, Alabama http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvrd/revb/nrevss/labc.htm 3) Cheshire Fire and Rescue don't seem to mention this anywhere http://www.cheshirefire.co.uk/latestNews.asp?menuid=641 Still, as journalists everywhere say "never let the truth stand in the way of a good story". Good night - don't have nightmares :D
  18. It's not unknown to import (say) a rust free (ish) early Z (240 or 260 etc) from California to UK, then go to the immense trouble to convert LHD to RHD. You can read more about it on http://www.zclub.net But converting a car as complex as a Z32 from one RHD to LHD strikes me as more trouble than it's worth. Ask Topless about the humungous job of changing n/a to turbo without changing the side you sit on. His mechanic said "nothing fitted" and everything needed new bracketry. It would be a lot cheaper to find a good LHD in a LHD country (eg US or Euro) and import from there. After all, that's why we in the UK import from Japan and don't bother importing LHD from US and converting to RHD.
  19. I bought my Zed because I couldn't find a good enough MGC or MGB V8! MG because I wanted a sports car with class MG Midget - had one MGB - too slow MGRV8 - unaffordable MGC / MGB V8 - ah that's better. 3 or 3.5l classic tin but couldn't find one. Wait a mo' - wasn't there a classic Datsun: Z something? Ooooh yes Auto Trader - blimey, what's that? 300ZX never heard of it. Test drive - vroooooom love at first sight and that was 6 years ago :D

  21. sorry mate - invoices at home and I'm not. MJP (Trader here) will know.
  22. That's this bit. I sent my duff one to AndyP to see if there was a way to fix one - but no luck. I think someone else here has tried but can't remember who. I fixed mine (and kept the stock not-very-good-in-dash gauge) just by replacing the sender. Others just tap into the oil pressure line and add an aftermarket electronic or hydraulic gauge. Your choice, really. There isn't an aftermarket gauge which fits in the instrument cluster where the OEM one goes.
  23. Oops sorry - I meant oil sender. It's more likely your sender has gone (your symptoms are exactly what happened to mine).
  24. Swop for a known working one. That's about it.
