  4. that is what scares me, but i can see a lot of people put a lot of trust in dent lee but last owner nathan suggested me that it was doing that since it was rebuilt. i hope that i am not the unlucky one

  6. I have a few problems had to keep my car parked at work for a week due to having no brakes. Basically what happened is when i bought the car the brakes were hardly there drove home at 60mph took me a while as it was 300mile trip one way :) i was advised when i bought the car that it needs new brake discs which i was supplied by the seller, it obviously needed new pads. when i took it apart i realised that inner brake pad had still half of it there so tried to push the pistons. no chance. So ordered reconditioned 30mm aluminium brake calipers from brakeparts.co.uk but the brake pad pins does not fit they are too short which surprised me as the ones on the car was iron which is a surprise as well the car is 1990 so i was mislead by internet that impreza calipers are the same so ordered pins for that 10pound wasted two days waiting to find out they are even shorter, so bit the bullet went to the dealer 5pound a pin so its not that bad, so after 3 days the pins arrive and they are too short they are 110mm but the only other pins are like 96mm suitable for 26mm disc calipers. Eventually i got it sorted for 1 pound bought a bolt long enough with thread just at the end and stuck a locking nut at the end. now to the problem, the bolt has no movement as i tightened it properly, but there is a CLUNK sound every time i press brakes, i do understand that pads have some movement but the sound worries me. to be honest i have never measured the diameter of the bolt and the original pin so i can not guarantee i have got the right size but they did look similar. Any ideas? Is this normal? Second is i get blue smoke from exhaust. It had a new engine and turbos 1000miles ago. Story behind it is that it had blown turbos and the last owner drove it a couple hundred miles with a huge blue cloud behind him. I do understand that exhaust got contaminated and there is oil to burn away. how long can it take. it only happens on odd occasions as well. When i go flat out and when i drive at fully warmed engine let the accelerator, coast in a gear for a couple seconds and then touch accelerator then it puffs a bit of blue smoke. Any ideas on this? Any help would be appreciated
  7. Thought I should say hello Basically bought the car a couple weeks ago and been stalking this forum daily now. Apparently some of you might know this car. Bellonged to Nathan. A red 1990 LWB TT Manual, probably as good as it gets. Has a rebuilt 31k miles engine by Lee Dent as much as i am aware. I will add a couple photos tomorrow, a bit ashamed to put them up now as i have not washed the car since i bought. Guess will have to get used to it as i used to wash my cars twice a year. I am based in Aberdeen btw. I need some help here with contact details for Lee Dent if anyone can help. Nathan failed to email me all the pictures and Lee details. I was trying to private message him but apparently i need to subscribe. If someone could email me at t.balna(at)gmx.com i would be very gratefull.
