  1. Stick with it bud.....I'm just doing the manual conversion now.....I know its a pain in the @r$e but it will be worth it in the end when you know its sorted properly. I must admit info is a bit thin on the ground...I had plenty of intentions of taking pics and documenting it for others.......but when you're underneath getting covered in sh*t you just cant be bothered to get a camera :x:
  2. All but the top 2 were got at from the back of the box with 3ft's worth of extensions. It was the top 2 that were a pain, we finally got there by faffing around with a mixture of tools. At around 10.30 last night we finally dropped the autobox out :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Can't beleive how clean the car is underneath, not a spot of corrosion. All we've got to do is install the manual box
  3. Panic over....just managed to get about 20 assorted drives hooked up to twist around the gearbox :hyper: cant wait til its over n done :headvswal :headvswal RainbowZTT has been doing the manual conversion with me :duffer: wouldnt dare attempt it without help.
  4. I just cant get to the 2 bolts at the top of the auto tranny - any ideas. Im with the car at the mo but just stuck as to how to undo those poxy bolts. \Cheers Marc
  5. iirc auto to manual conversions are slightly different cos the auto's advance the timing a bit more when in neutral and then retard it when its in gear. Thats why you need the earth the neutral switch so it doesnt keep it too advanced. disclaimer...I could be wrong tho :D
  6. You may be able to ge to it through the gearshift hole, but im not sure. Im just doing a manual conversion as we speak. I've had the car just over 2 years and only driven it for a few months :headvswal self inflicted overhauls and upgrades :(
  7. On the gearbox, its mounted at the rear of the box. its behind the reversing light switch.
  8. Allo bud, Check your neutral switch is connected up right as this will throw the timing out at idle iirc if youve done an auto conversion. Im not an expert so i may be wrong :D
  9. Thanks for your advice andy.
  10. Does it make ant diff in performance doing a decatt
  11. Good idea. I'll push them through. Q. would it make a lot of difference to the car if I decatt it at this stage or should I leave it alone and not risk damaging the tub seals?
  12. Thanks bud. I like to be safe than sorry :D Just getting ready to unbolt the auto box now :hyper: Replacing all the nuts etc with stainless and plenty of copper grease as I go :D
  13. Doing manual conversion and got to taking the exhaust off. When I got to the cats I couldnt remove a wire thats going into it, couldnt find anything in the manual about it so snipped them cos the pipes were in the way to work under the car. Q. What are the wires that go to the cat and does it make any difference cutting them? Cheers Marc
  14. Yes bud :D You can rig up a boot opener using a cable connected to the boot latch, pop a small hole out thru the base of the car, making sure you seal it up properly, then connect cables up to what ever mechanism you want to use to open the boot. :D
  15. Thats class :D :D :D
  16. That looks as tho it will do the job for the auto. It has the autobox cooler fitted inside the rad, thats what the lugs are for 1/2 way down the rad :D
  17. Their stuff just doesnt grab my attention :D
  18. I dont think it would be too bad if you had a stock clutch but if you had something more aggressive then you'd have legs like arnie :D
  19. I did bud, it came with the gearbox I got. I was told there wasnt one with it....what he meant was that the axtra booster in the wing was bypassed. There is a site in the USA that does new boosters for around 300 USD. Alternatively it has been suggested using the NA clutch pedal assembly which has a longer arm from the master cylinder to the pedal.
  20. Cheers Rodder Got a bearing and tranny oil (ooer) sorted, just like they said in manuels manual on manwell's :D :D :D
  21. Kelly Smunt Mary Huff Birty Dastard Betty Swollocks Hows that for a start :D
  22. Hello peeps Does anyone know where I can get the bearing for the end of the crank for the manwell box to go into. I need to pull the auto sized bearing out and need to replace it with the manual one. Cheers Marc
  23. Yep lets make a really good doc on everything thats needed and how its done :hyper: Cant wait to get it all sorted :D
