I've modified my car as components have needed to be replaced, exhaust and induction are always worth while upgrades and shouldn't cause you any problems, it all depends on what you want out of you car really, suspension and brakes could arguably prolong the life of your car in a sticky situation, boost upgrades ect will cause more wear on the engine/turbos/transmission but if you do them within the limits of the car and do them properly and follow duffers guide to ensure everything is okay first then you "should" be okay.

Check the electrical connections on the MAF and TPS, any chance you could have sucked some water into the MAF? i had similar problems (not sure about the boost though as i never hit 0psi) and cleaning up these connections and resetting the ECU cured them.

Lots of land, lots of cheap products to build the houses and quick production times, mainly its land costs though, they dont have the overcrowding problems like we do around here.

checked the MAF? I cleaned the connector and the TPS connector also when i had the same problem and it went away it felt as though someone was hitting me from the side at 4500rpm, and wouldnt go any further.

Tank of fuel has never got me 300 miles :D, always have some left over just in case though around 250 miles out of 58litres i think worked out to 20mpg on last tank costsme about 40 quid to do 200 miles usually I think

Yup this is an excellent alarm, my parents used to have them fitted, and I belive one of my freinds does as well. Get a compitent fitter though, one who did my parents car managed to slice through a fuel line...
