  1. check for dodgy egr valvle located at rear of engine, if the egr goes you get essesive fuel usage. mine went, it sounded like a exhaust blow at rear of engine when you rev up and let the revs die off

could possibly be corroded pipes to heater matrix at back of engine
  3. i would like to come to santa pod on sun 9th, is it possible i can get a pass? address is simon holford, 6 stone close, bourne, lincs pe109xj.
  4. i had similair prob with mine, was also suspected cas, however it was actually the throttle position sensor, well the connector, if it is it will happen at slightly different revs depending on gear you are in. the cutting is detonation from incorrect timing because the ecu things your foot is in a difffenrent position to it is and it does collaborate with the readings for the afm
  5. 300 bhp was the spec for the usa market cars, to do with jap/uk and aus emissions laws, the yanks prob dont give shit about carbon monoxide in the air when they all drive 8 litre chevys lol
  6. conzult only comes up with fault if the readings from the maf are outr of bounds, its prob corroded connector (durite 4 pin connector £5) or could be the maf, if its bad idle its prob a slightly out reading from the maf which is caused by electrical resistance in the corroded connector which will not match with the readings from tps so the ecu will get confused and wont know how much fuel to supply to set amount of air. hence when maf disconnected its only getting an idea of airflow from how open the throttle bodies are (tps) but with it connected it will get one air reading from afm and another from tps and it wont mathmatically add up.
  7. ecu connector wont need replacing, its the buggers under the bonnet cause they get damp and corrode
  8. connectors can be bought from durite 01255555200 ask for catalogue 2 pin £2 injector/temp sensor etc 3 pin £4 tps 4 pin £5 cas/afm
  9. paid recently via paypal, and my account seems activated on the site but have not recieved membership number or stickers yet!!!!!!!??? my insurance is up for renewal and they want the membership number!
  10. ptu amplifies the power for the spark plugs and distributes it to the plugs, works in conjuction with the cas (crank angle sensor) to decide when to spark, 300zx version of distributer and rotar arm! could be either, ptu is on left looking from frot and cas on right of cam belt cover, connector (4pin) for cas available from durite through most auto electrics places.
  11. i understand mate, i had a head go, spent nearly 3k and car came out running shite and garage didnt wanna know, in fact most garages didnt wanna know so ended up doin my own research and fixing it myself. it will be something really simple but hard to establish.
  12. firing on four: if you unbolt the coil packs you will find a 3inch or so plug lead which connects the coil pack to the spark plugs, thse are approx £6 each new and can cause not to fire, also check the condition of the 3 pin connectors from loom to coil pack, these can get corroded, these are approx £25 for 3 from courtessy nissan in the states(not sure of delivery charge). also connector to the power transister unit on front left of cambelt cover, this supplies the power to the coils. also check if plugs look coked, can be caused by running rich, caused most likely from dodgy connector to temp sensor for ecu located front of engine on water pipe (yellow) replacement from durite available most auto electrics £2 ish. are you sure its not firring, is there a spark, could be no fuel tro the certain cylinders caused by corroded connectors to injectors, also durite replacemnets. rattle: is it coming back of engine at top, but sounds like a manifold blow? i had this, it was the nut which holds on a pipe which goes from the left side manifolf to the egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve located at the back of the engine bellow lots of pipes and above the gear box, this is gearbox out to tighten up!!! if its this you will smell exhaust gas in cab and use lots of petrol and perfeormance will be crap
  13. if you got a water leak its normally heater matrix, check for damp in passnger and driver floor wells under carpet. common on imports as japs dont like using anti freeze and it corrodes, also check the pipes to the matrix (right at back of engine!) matrix is £149+vat but need to remove half the dash and clutch pedal!! zedworld do a set fee matrix replacement
  14. i have same prob with mine! connections to solenoid under rack can get damp or wires get a bit dodgy on solenoid causing signal to drop off temp power steering is speed operated, it is soft bellow a set speed poss 60mph and harder after that speed. if the speed sender in the gearbox or connecter to it looses signal the speedo will trip out. if the power steering ecu doesent get a signal from speed sender for a certain period it turns steering off. also when you go above/bellow the steering change speed ie 60mph ish if you have no speed signal at this time the power steering will stay in its current mode (hard or soft) untill you go above or bellow this speed again to change mode, assuming you have a signal at this point from the sender in box. its one of those things which is hard o put your finger on, it will be either : solenoid (£800+vat new nissan/£25 second hand zworld) connection to solenoid (any sealed 2 pin connector) speed sender £160 new connection to speed sender (male and female sealed connector) ps ecu (£40 second hand zedworld) trouble is you cant drive about with a voltage meter on the sender untill it happens or on solenoid etc.. i just put up with it or you could change the lot!!!! if its electric on a zed it dont work!!!
  15. i had a quote of bell direct for a "300zx import" for £800 fully comp, but when i came to go ahead and told them it was a "fairlady z" they had to speak t their undewriters (admiral) and said they couldnt insure me. they also said it would cost more if the car had targa top!
  16. i'm insured with norwich union through a broker, my insurance is up for renewal end of month and they wont re-insure me cause they,ve got a new policy "we dont insure imports older than 1993"
  17. apparently they are introducing a new 25 mile test where they measure how long it takes to do the 25 miles and what your average speed was as lets face it we all slow down for the camera and speed up again after. they should spend less time and money and resources on this and put it into preventing these terrorists
  18. Only Good Thing To Come Out Of This Is That The "crazy Frogs" Have Been Beaten From The Top Twice In Last 2 Weeks Lol
  19. well i been to zedworld 2 or 3 times and had no problems, in fact the car likes it there so much it keeps breaking so it can go back over lol
  20. i have done it again todfay but using the link from the forum thread rather than the link at the link at top right corner of site which gives same page but seems to put "paypal.co.uk " in address bar as opposed to "300zx.co.uk" and it works, so when do i get my membership number etc? plus i think it may pos have soomething to do with the aol browser i lumbered with, i have my own site which i have editted today, the changes only appear when accessed through microsoft explorer but when accessed through aol it just loads up the old pages frpom hard disc even when rebooted computer and deleted cookies etc... aol (arseholes on line)
  21. there is a contact phone number for paypal on their site, best to ask them
  22. sounds like someone disguising the "request payment by email" function to get you to log in and send them money or to get access to your account
  23. tried subscribing through your paypal link however cause your domain name is masked in address bar, paypal wont process the payment as "not logged in" but wont let me log in cause it thinks im still on 300zx.co.uk? any other way of going about this?
  24. ive noticed a new insurance attitude problem, not only do they turn their heads up at imports norwich union direct have told me they wont insure my car again because they dont insure "inports that are older than 1993" err?
