Why is this Zed still for sale? Forum member's I thought?
It's bloody TT manual in what looks like it's in a lovely unmolstered state. On the surface it appears like the arse has fallen out the bottom of the 300ZX market. Although it hasn't. A mint example at a cheap price can drag the prices down of others. I'm sure GTR Skyline owners wouldn't want to see their cars going for such little. It's just not a nice thing to see really.

difficulty gettin shot of Z
Subscribe, put it up for sale in the for-sale section with some photos and at that price, I'm pretty sure it will sell quickly unless it's a really beaten up example with digestive biscuit arches.

difficulty gettin shot of Z
Unfortunately, N/A 2+2 auto Zeds demands the least amount of money and when one has no MOT, it becomes even less of a value. You should still be able to get at least £1,000 for it I would have thought.

Just come back from a lovely drive in the Zed....engine now run in
As some of you know, I've recently had my engine fully rebuilt by Yami and Jimmer. Now, wanting to pre-empt fate...being the pessimistic SOB that I am, I thought I'd take it to a wedding I'd been invited to just outside LeMans. So, drove it to and from work just to iron out any probs it may have....ie, electrical contacts etc. Did it miss a beat? Did it hell! So took it to France and did about 1,000kms in it. The engine is a pure gem, pulls very well, is lovely and smooth and sounds fantastic. Was a bit of a gamble...also because I’d not managed to get euro breakdown cover in time...but I didn’t friggin’ need it Starting to enjoy the car again now. That's actually my first long distance run in the thing really since having it nearly a year. There's still loads of bits and bobs I want to do to make the car totally perfect and almost concourse. Anyway, here are some piccies...all a bit samey, but not posted any piccies of the car that I've been really that happy with. Just took these to try and capture the pearl in the paint more than anything as the sun was at such a lovely height. On the ferry on the way back, I got chatting to a load of American College girls. Meet Ashton....she was an absolute beauty! My battery ran dead before I could get pics of the others, but have their e-mail addresses! ;)

McGuires
I'm waiting for my giant tub of autoglym to run out. AG gives good results, but it can be hard work, especially with the amount of dust in generates. This is a noticable thing with the MG as it leaves almost no dust at all and is so much easier to use. Will be buying next time for sure.

UK versus Import
I'm insured with broadsure direct. I'm paying £500 fully comp on my JDM TT. Next year, it goes down to £450. I have 6 points, full no claims and I'm 27. UK models when new were better than JDMs as all UK models had leather as standard as well adjustable rear suspension. Also they were all Twin Turbo models. As far as the cars are today, a lot of the UK ones have high mileage and rust on them. Most JDMs tend to have lower mileage. You get more of a colour choice, body choice and engine choice. UK spec cars in good condition tend to fetch more. Mainly because they are few and far between. I've seen a few nice 300ZX TT uk specs that are in good condition, such as Glenns and a few others, but have seen a lot more hounds. Some really hanging rusty ones with apauling condition interiors. Personally, I'd go for a JDM model unless you want to pay extra and spend ages looking for a mint UK version. Some people have mentioned this JDM vs UK insurance issue. But I'm paying £500 unlimted mileage.....I was paying more for my old car on insurance and that was a bloody Astra!

350Z or S15 Sylvia?
Yeah I do like the S14s. Especially the facelifted version as pictured above. There's a lovely one here at work in a mallard green. Has Skyline rims on it and a nice exhaust and does look the part.

350Z or S15 Sylvia?
Deffo S15. I absolutely love the S15 Silvia. Still very pricey from the odd few I've ever seen advertised over here. Just can't get excited over the 350Z. Just doesn't do anything for me really.

Good good, I'll keep watching then.

Anyone watch the new Steve Coogan series last night? "Saxondale"
Didn't think much of it really. Was watchable, but doesn't want to keep me watching in the same way as Alan Partridge did. That was pure genius. I'll give it a few more goes and see if the character developes.

LOL Bird, you didn't buy yours off gixxar too did you?

I looked into this actually. As NAs rarely suffer from bore damage like the TT does, it could be a good idea to use an NA block. I think it's the same, but was never 100% sure. There are a few oil feeds on it of course which the NA doesn't have, but from what I can make out, they are the same.

Well, that's something you need to sort out with him. In the meantime, check the state of the bores in your old engine. If they are free from wear, then rebuild. Of not, rebore, sleeve or fit oversized pistons.

How much can i get a vg30dett for?
I have a couple of spare heads and cams from a TT auto.

todays the day (finally)
I'd budget for around £2,000 I paid less, this includes engine in and out. The crank and shells out of the spare engine I had was as new (so needed no work), gave the block just the very lightest of re-hones to give the new rings a chance to wear in, had new shells, mains, piston rings, EVERYTHING was measured for tollerances. Heads were refaced and had all the pistons lapped back in. The entire lot was cleaned in a chemical parts washer. Basically it had its 60k service too...so new water pump, belt, rollers etc etc. So if you add it all up like that, it's pretty good really. Then you can start adding tubos on top of that etc etc.

I'd rebuild your current engine mate. A rebuilt engine is always a safer bet if it's done properly. But maybe you've run out of cash. Saying that, for the cost of removing and the cost of another engine, I doubt there's much in it. Mind you, knowing Jeff, I'm sure he'd come up trumps with a good engine.
