Ok, today was the day that i finally took the zed to a specialist.

I took it to Jeff at Zedworld, I have to say what a good bloke he is, and not to forget his son either, another top lad.

He's sorted my idle issues out, temp sender, gave the zed an assesment and conzult, boost leak check, throttle balance, timing, base idle.

Also looked at my oil leak.

He also done a compression test for me.

the result started off looking mint,

cylinders 1 & 3 both came out at 160psi :D , number 2 then came out at 165 :hyper: (all still looking mint).

Then we get to number 4  and would anyone like to take a guess as to what it was?????

58psi :headvswal :headvswal

I couldn't beleive my eyes. ive never seen compression so low before :( ,

Cylinder 5 was 158 and 6 was back up at 160.

Anyway thanks again to Jeff for all of his time and hard work, definately be going back with my business (which will be alot knowing my zed  )

Still a real shame he's not here any longer, i have to say i think the club is missing out :(

just think what you could have had and when

What was the diagnosis - Rings, Valves, Head gasket ?

Jeff is a top bloke, although its been a few years since he was a trader here

:x: :x:

did the engine come with a garuantee mate?

I've seen compression at 10PSi.....that was out of the engine in my Zed. That was a combination of a melted piston and chronic coking up of the valves due to oil blow back.

The f****d one I bought from gixxar had some cyclinders down at 50PSi. That was due to a headgasket and the fact that one of the heads wasn't even torqued down.

Gutted for you though.

so some light at the end of the tunnel then bird!!! its good news then that finally the car will get sorted once and for all..

so i guess you will be at jae then.. eh?? ;)

Good to see you finally got it somewhere to be sorted mate, at least all the niggly things that caused problems are done giving you a bit more hope, just leaving the 1 big one to be sorted now which am sure you will ;)

He is mate, both he and his son were spot on when working on the car and his wife was cany too.

He said he's not sure what it is, probably the heads but he didn't take it apart to see.

All the others are ok, the car still runs just not as fast as it should thats all (mainly the torque aspect of it)

some more details of the condition of the engine etc when it came, stuff i had just got on with

Engine was described as coming complete with all ancilaries and turbos

Engine arrived without the following components…

1. Upper cam belt covers

2. Water inlet pipe

3. Water outlet pipe

4. Thermostat

5. Alternator

6. Flywheel (engine from an auto)

Damaged Parts…

1. Water rail on rear of Engine

2. Accelerator/Cruise control, connection quadrants bent

Problems after Installation and start up

1. Had to disable ACC valve(also replaced with good 2nd hand unit) and adjust idle manually as unable to get engine to idle at required idle setting…suspect air leak

2. Major oil leak from oil filter housing extension…unable to remove/replace extension with engine in vehicle

3. TPS sensor not reading

dont let it drag out bud get it sorted asap

if they wont answer give them a deadline to answer it

inform the tlo (mac) what you plan on doing

then let a solicitor take it on

HTH

best thing is to write explaining the fault using registered post, then if you dont get a reply issue a county court summons against him.its cheap to do and youll get the money back for issuing it at the end.the guy has to respond or the court will carry out proceedings without him and you will come out on top.get a report from jeff as evidence of the engine fault and take your 90 day warranty and the court is bound to find in your favour. ;)

As PK1 says...

Light at the end of the tunnel mate ;)
