Daily Driver suggestions
Maybe an ex minicab a toyota or something like that on LPG. Something like a 1997-1998 reg. I t might be a high miler but could save you loads of cash fit 5 people in and get you from A-B cheaply. Or something like this with a few quid left to fix anything wrong. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-Toyota-Avensis-1-8-GS-Estate-Duel-Fuel-LPG-12M-MOT_W0QQitemZ320408618288QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item4a99d78530&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

How not to wash a car!
Funny but it was more concerning to me how she left a small child to mess around in a garage where there are other cars around.

Getting a rebuild
When I was new to the Z scene I was stupid enough to listen to some people on here in the past not recognising the back stabbing that was going on and ended up not fixing my Z for a lot longer than I should have due to being uncertain over who to go to ending up in more of a mess. My 2p worth now is to say, speak to the mechanics yourself, if you get along fine and build up a good feeling then thats always a good sign, ask questions. As Legrath points out there are people on here with years of experience that counts for a lot and to some extent speaks for itself! Also note this is not targeted at yourself but I have also noticed that quite a few owners of Z's that pick them up for around £1500 with problems do not consider what they are getting into and hence expect skilled mechanics to be able to fix in some cases quite time consuming work for pennies. The two things dont match up so the customer keeps on putting preassure on the professional who tries their best to accommodate but may end up with a bigger bill than they expected. Sometimes one diagnosed problem reveals another that needs to be fixed and it can get very costly. Owning a car like the Z involves putting your hand in your pocket. I dont think any long term Z garage is in this to swindle us. Owning a Z when the engine goes wrong can get costly, thats a fact. I guess a lot of the moans come from the fact that really the customer is not happy paying what they see as paying extra to get the job done where as its necessary.

Lpg converted tt zed
Having thought about this some more I reckon it would be uneconomical for most Z users considering the cost of conversion with now poorer rates between the pound and Euro where most of the systems come from. Also if anything goes wrong with the Z it would be more hassle to sort and you would have to do loads of miles to recoup the conversion costs and then make savings. For some daily drivers it might be worthwhile or if you can pick one up like in this post that is already converted then it might make sense.

Lpg converted tt zed
Sounds ok if all is genuine and the seller is not hiding anything. Mostly people do not sell good running LPG vehicles they hold on to them. Never seen a LPG Z and when I asked at my LPG fitters they said previously that Z'a would be too much hassle with how tight the engine bay is and had concerns over running the engine hotter. Consider that if you have any problems with the LPG system, stuck/ clicking injector, piston rings etc. etc. how much will it cost. Ask the garage that fitted the system some questions, make sure its got a certificate with the system make sure there is nothing else wrong with the car that is the reaql reason for the seller offloading it now. Find out what LPG system is being used too and do some research. Not all brands are the same there is a big difference in quality between manufacturers. If your Z's going to be a daily driver then it may make sense but otherwise I would personally go with a standard Z. Its a Z and things will go wrong from time to time and cost you so best to expect that when considering purchasing. Personally I would not go for it. If I got another Z I would like to have a small car to run about and keep a z for the weekend. Everyone is different though do your homework on the car and LPG system and you should come to the right decision.

Seat position
Thats good to hear thanks for the replies. The shortie dream is still alive now I just have to convince the wife! He he. She is just about to start learning to drive and does not like my car at all preferring a "family car" I would have liked to give her my car and then use that as a way of getting myself a Z but I also do not want to get rid of my current car. Rather frustrating but I am certain that I will be getting a Z again.

Seat position
Hi does the drivers seat on a SWB go back as far as a LWB to give you the same leg room? I ask as I needed the seat on my LWB right back to drive in a comfortable position.

"Z Moment"
Its easy to get too emotional over a car I miss my Z and its in good hands now which makes me feel a bit better but I know I can always get another one and after owning one you will know what to look for in the future. At the end of the day just comes down to use for me I could buy one tomorrow but its not practical to run and look after properly at the moment plus all the other family commitments. A decent Z (keeper) that I can enjoy on a weekend is in the plan for the future though.

LPG anyone?
Good idea in principle but I have looked into this for the Z in the past and found it not to be feasible. If you can find anyone that can fit one into a Z then good luck. I dont think there is enough space to fit a kit into a Z given what is required but you never know! I dont know of anyone that has done a LPG conversion on a Z. The price will be steep too probabaly £2k to 3K for a professional job using the best equipment Prins - brand, remember if you cut corners and go cheap you will most likely get problems. I have had a good look at the parts used in different kits and the difference is big. Hope this helps.

Bigger Brakes and ABS
So the safest option is go for a skyline upgrade or do nothing improve disks and pads. right?

Bigger Brakes and ABS
Hi I was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it would be to keep ABS with a bigger brake kit or get it set up correctly. I have heard of peole fitting bigger brakes then having an accident because the wheels locked up. So can ABS be kept or reset for the new setup? how? Electronic jiggery pokery or a mechanical solution? Safety is my consideration when looking to go down a bigger brake route.
