  1. Hi all OK swapped the loom for a new one and have replaced the IACV. But I have been left with a misfire. All injectors are connected and I cant find any problems with hoses etc. Do you think it could be that the sensor on attached to the hose on off the IACV is stuffed? There was oil in my air pipes so this will no be in the sensor Im guessing. Would this cause a misfire? Thanks for any help Ill try your ideas on Saturday and see how we go.
  2. Hi all I took the IACV off and cleaned it and now the car runs like a dog, ie wont even move off without stalling and missfiring. Im assumin the IACV is stuffed so am waiting for another one. I took the iacv connector off and it crumbled in my hand and it had alredy been crimped onto the loom, nearly every connector on my loom is broken so I bought a LH loom from the states and have just finished putting it in! I have taken the dash out and the heater matrix which was also stuffed so am waiting for one of those from the good Mike at MJP. Took about 4 hours to get everything out and took about the same to put the new loom in the engine bay today! Im bloody knackered! New loom was about 200 delivered and so is the matrix. Im hoping that at the end of this Im at least I dont have to chase breaks in the cables! I took the old loom out and some of it actually cracked when I bent it! Anyhow I still have the interior in pieces, loom is in but waiting for the IACV and the heater matrix before I try to put it all back together again. Ill keep you posted with progress! One question though, the fuse box on the right hand side of my engine has three connectors attached to it on the right. The first two have been connected but the third on the farthest right doesnt have a connector on the new loom. Does anyone know what this is for? many thanks.
  3. Hi mate I had exactly this problem and it seems to be quite common... do a search for the Idle Air Control Valve or IACV. Mines in bits in tha garage at the mo a replacement from Zedworld was 40 squid plus vat.
  4. Het mate I live in Surrey but wouldnt do your cam belt unless you want it looked at by a mechanical plonker! BUT I take mine to Simpsons in Chessington, Zedworld recommended them as specialists and general jap car specialists. Give them a go - 02083973311 Ron
  5. Gutted for you mate!
  6. Hello mate my tip is - remove the windscreen vents carefully as they get brittle and break really easily.
  7. Ok Its soaking in petrol now. Interestingly I just put a meter across the terminals on the Idle solenoid and no tone. Did the same with the Air con one and it gave me a tone. I then tried it across the terminals of the Air con connector and I had a tone but nothing across the terminals of the Idle connector. Im guessing that the AAC fat tube is bust. Or even worse the connector has a break in the wire somewhere? I hope not. Does anyone know where these terminate? I assume on the ECU but which wire? Ill see if i can trace it at the ecu and put the meter across it with a wire in each terminal on the connector to see if the cable is broke. Ordered a new loom from Z1 in the states looks like it could have been a good investment!
  8. Ill go and get it off again and clean it again. Mines different from the one in the thread above its has an open back and you can see the spring etc through the back. The one in the thread is closed.
  9. Thanks matey Thats the thread I used to clean the bugger!!
  10. Dont know where is the TPS? I didnt remove it??
  11. Thanks guys Ill give that a go. when you put it back on after cleaning would you expect the revs to bounce up and down or just be too low / too high? etc?
  12. OK ill give that a go will only take ten minuted to get it out as Im an expert now will be the third time today!
  13. Yep checked the clamps and hoses all good. Its not that complicated. All you can do is remove the two small screws for the IACV and take it off the internals stay in the tube. I just gave it a blast of cleaner, let it dry and then put the O ring back in and back together again. Is it cos my AEM was mapped and now the map is knackered cos the IACV is clean and working and allowing more air in??or something ?maybe? Maybe the IACV is goosed properly after cleaning cos now when I disconnect it it doesnt seem to make a difference??
  14. Hello all OK the car was doing the stalling thing when driven hard so I followed the instructions on the site to check the idle air valve. Took it off cleaned it with brake cleaner and degreaser, Dryed it and put it back on the car and now the idle bounces up and down and it mis fires like hell when driven???? Whats going on?? Please help????
  15. Theres loads being broken all the time mate hopefully you can get a good price on one!
  16. Awesome! Thanks mate Ive managed to get three of the biolts off and have found oil in the hose coming in from the battery side?? is that normal? or is it worth chasing the hose back and cleaning all the way? Will finish it off tomorrow as Im knackered
  17. SH*t mate that doesnt sound very good! Hope all it was just you running over something not very important!
  18. Hey all I have the same cutting out problem so ill give the idle control valve a clean in the morning. But before i do my idle sits just arund the 1k mark. I have an aem and 555's does this require my idle to be different? or shoul i be 700 like any other manual? cheers
  19. Hi mate mines lowered running on coilovers and I just had some standard ones put on and they are just fine so if you want to buy standard thats ok too.
  20. My old chimaera was 7 grand in 7 months ... sounded lovely though (there is something wrong with me!) Although my S2000 shot a conrod through the sump and cost me 5k to fix with a second hand engine etc. I think the tiv still wins though, somedays it just wouldnt start or even open the door or boot. If you caned it the speedo would fall out of the dash and if you brake too hard the lights would start to flicker... Sounded lovely though :-)
  21. They did say that they found that all the Z's they de-catted smoked on the drivers side??? Maybe this get sfixed by having a single exit?
  22. Hey all Ran it into Simpsoons and they reckon there was just too much oil in the engine and that as it had been sat around a while it just needs to have a good regular spanking and it will all come right! Hope their right! Hey ho time will tell. Bloody love this car though!! Interior is almost complete now have relaced anything broken, or crappy and just need to put in some rear seat belts and wait for a decent set of leather setas and door cards and were done inside. Although if I find one I might replace the dash as the area around the windscreen vent has bubbled up. Then next year get the front end tidied up... Hopefully someone will reverse into me before then!!
  23. Hey all Quick update - just over a grand to get the suspension, brakes steering and other bits done and the car is now road worthy and safe. Havent heard from the guy I bought it off but hey I didnt expect to but SKEY aka Steve his mate has been in touch and has been a star helping out as he new the car and has been able to tell me what his mate did to it and how its put together. Thanks bud! Cheers
