  1. So a few hours tonight of further investigation and it is definitely the looms - corrosion I would imagine, as they were working before the winter. Anyone got any looms spare at all? They need to be able to accommodate twin filament bulbs rather than single filament ideally.
  2. Yes more thinking required. I have no LED bulbs - all standard. So, it can only be something to do with the body ground or the connectors - as if the side lights work but the indicators are shorting/grounding or something else (to replicate a short) - it must be do with the wiring. Maybe a replacement loom from the connector is the way forward?
  3. On the same loom are the side lights, and they work fine, as do the fogs. I have checked the indicator stalk and the looms that go into it, and they seem untampered with and original. It's got me foxed. If the side lights weren't working then I would know its the loom and a possible connection/short but since they are working fine, I can only assume it is something maybe inside the indicator stalk itself maybe?
  4. I noticed on starting the Zed for the first time in a fortnight that my front indicators were not working. As usual, I checked the bulbs, as it's on both sides, the relay, the indicator stalk and fuses. All seems OK. The hazards work fine and as normal, and on the fronts also which eliminates the bulbs being the issue, or corroded bulb holders. I also noticed that when I put the indicators on, it clicks twice as fast which may indicate a short somewhere, but where? Any ideas anyone? The back light indicators and side indicators also blink twice as fast. Something is not happy but what?
  5. I would not touch this for £1850+. £850 may be!
  6. Totally agree Dan. Where possible, we should help each other out - it makes this forum more of a community. Luckily I have a few decent chaps who liver near me, whose advice and time has been invaluable (you know who you are!).
  7. Agreed. It was a good turnout!
  8. I will be at Tesco's at 8am.
  9. Is it permanently in safety mode? If so, it will likely be the loom section for the knock sensor. If it returns to full boost after power cycling the ECU (posh words for turning off & on again), then your knock sensor could be detecting knock, which in turn could be genuine or spurious. I have a feeling my Zed is also in a safety mode - either that or I have a huge boost leak (and i can't detect anything). Aftermarket boost gauge reads around -.3bar on full acceleration and stock boost gauge reads just a bit more than than 0. Somethings up! Where is the knock sensor (at the back of the engine?) and how do I access it to check the loom? Can the knock sensor be removed? Cheers Greg

  12. "Lastly an early warning, especially to first timers to the event and area. The New Forest is a national park, as such there's a lot of wide life and live stock. There's a blanket speed limit, pretty much, of 40mph which is enforced. Should a cow or a pony, which roam freely around the park walk out in front of you your responsible. That includes the animals treatment or euthanasia and reimbursement to its owner. So don't be a wally. End lecture." I got caught on the way to the event in 2013 going from a 40 to a 30 in a nearby village (at 8am on a Sunday morning!) So, what Stephen says is bloody true. Just slow it in the New Forest! I didn't see the van, I just got the ticket six weeks later and had to do the day long "driver awareness" course. I obviously wasn't aware of the sneaky camera van! Probably because it was hidden I reckon!
  13. I have done this as a temporary fix until I can replace the heater matrix.
  14. Anyone help? I don't want to put it in if it is not for an auto TT.
  15. Further to this, I have an ECU that has no identification (23710 xxpxx), this box is blank. The only numbers on it are A18-A34 MA3. It has "OX25" next to it, and is definitely a Japanese Ecu as it states Made in Japan! I think it is for a TT Auto, around 1991, series 1 but I want to make sure. Can anyone help me identify it?
  16. The lady driving this zed was doing 80! I had to risk it to keep up with her in the company car - and it was well wet!
  17. I spotted this fine lady on the m40 earlier this week. A std looking 1994 convertible.
  18. I just changed to Yokohama advan sports after reading alot of positive comments on them.
  19. Sounds like I need to get into Poole then! Thanks guys - will pop in tomorrow. Hyphose look better than Halfords!
  20. So, I have a leaking heater matrix, and short-term (until I can get up to Jimmer @ Powerzed) need to block it off. I have seen many threads on bypassing the heater matrix with a short length of hose 5/8" in dia. So where is the best place to get this dia of hose and how long does it need to be? Cheers!
  21. That's gotta be a record! I never paid more than £2.5k a year for insurance. I pay £230 a year with Lancaster with a value of £3k on the Zed, with alloys, side skirts and exhaust declared. Mind you I did have a real go at them at renewal time as I proved through the MOT certificates I had only covered 800 miles in a whole year and there was no way I was going to pay more for a similar mileage! Living in the sticks helps also!
  22. I think one of the best things about this club/forum is that it is full of many wise people who know their stuff about these cars. And it is a forum where everyone can rant and rave in equality with one thing in common - we have a passion for these cars. I am more than happy to have Jeff and anyone else post about less than good garages/traders/tuners if there is good evidence for the post - especially as I take the advice given on this forum as Bible. if there is a place/person to avoid - I want to know about it. If there is a place/person to go to, again I want to know about it. Part of it is that the Zed, in it's many guises, is a complicated car, and many normal garages/traders/tuners do not have much experience with it - and I want to ensure that when my Zed needs something - it goes to the right place.
  23. As a born and bred Brummie, I do remember my dad mentioning the Fewtrells. Yes their name was up there as far as my dad was concerned. Many visitors to Navigation Street are likely to have been in one of their clubs without knowing it..
  24. More details please!
