  1. I'd love a pair for the zed. If you decide you ever don't want a set let me know!
  2. Nice! We had three hours of torrential rain and lightening storms. The kids were both awake throughout until 4am! At least the grass got a soaking!
  3. Not me! I messaged the chap as my mum lives not 15 miles away from Royan and until I got drove it back to the UK, it could have sat in a garage happily. But it's gone. It was a UK reg car with UK plates. Yes, would be interested to find out where it went!
  4. Wow, that is quite a procedure! Why not just replace the offending hose? How difficult could it be?
  5. A few grand yes, as it is a manual tt with 75k miles on it, running smoothly, zero rust, clean interior, completely std bar the exhaust/wheels. As a base car to restore I thought it ideal as nothing has been tampered with.
  6. My silver tt has developed quite a coolant leak following a spirited drive. It seems to be coming from the underside of the plenum at the left hand side at the back corner. I can see a rubber hose which appears to be the place where the leak is coming from. The question is, do I need to remove the plenum to change it?
  7. This is so frustrating. Never again will I trust anyone without paperwork, regardless of how good the car is! Maybe it is worth breaking it as it is as I cannot use it otherwise. The only things I can think it could be used for is on the track or as an N/A to TT donor car.
  8. Yes - exactly. I submitted a v62, but since I have no registration plate on the car, they sent it back. What about an IVA? Is this the best route? Not sure if it has been registered? Is there a way of checking perhaps?
  9. Long story short. I bought a red import 1990 LWB TT with a manual gearbox last winter from a chap in Oxfordshire, as a replacement project. The car is in reasonable nick so ideal for being the next project or so I thought. It ran smoothly engine wise, had 120k kilometers (70-80k miles), unmolested (no after market parts bar an exhaust (poss Scott&Hayward), and body wise had zero rust. The only thing it was missing was any paperwork. So, I paid the chap to get the paperwork sorted (IVA and V5) on top of the price I paid for the car and thought I had bought a good base for a project. Then he moved to Germany. After five months of hassling him I managed to get the car physically on my driveway where it currently resides. The winter was not kind to it, and it had a radiator leak when I came to start it recently. A few replacement new hoses fixed that, and I also fitted a spare S2 PTU I had lying around to modernise it a little. Everything on the engine is original, so I have spent a month cleaning it - all the loom and connectors, replaced the air filter with a k&N single cone one, new battery, checked TPS and cleaned the AACV inside and out (Thanks Gaz for showing me the best way to do this!). The engine sounds fine. Inside it has all black leather with grey cloth interior which is in good condition, with the usual bolster wear on the drivers leather seat. The bodywork is reasonable, a few scratches and small dings here and there, and also has the original foam rear spoiler, and being red - has faded in areas. Since April when this chap and I were last in contact, he is disappeared off the face of the earth, and I still have no paperwork with the car. I contacted the DVLA with the chassis number but they were unhelpful - just to see if any paperwork had been in progress or not. So, I am in a quandary as to what to do next. Is it worth paying to get an IVA done and the car registered or is it better to break it for parts? I also do want to sell it, as I am now moving house soon and the new house has limited parking. Any thoughts appreciated!
  10. So, the root cause - the loom that feeds into the relay under the steering wheel. Who would have thought? Bloody thing. So, a tidy up of the wiring loom and a clean of all the connectors and we have working indicators. Thanks to all who helped diagnose - it's much appreciated!
  11. Still got this annoying issue and an MOT on Tuesday! The bulb loads are pretty much 0.0 - 0.3v at the connectors on the front and side indicators. The indicator stalk I have cleaned and put back together. The relay looks fine - disconnected and replaced back in original position (cue back ache for later). Disconnected the hazard switch, no change, put back together. Checked all car fuses. No issues. Checked ECU just in case, Code 55. Checked all fuses under drivers footwell and harnesses. All OK. Side lights work fine - and are on a connected loom. If it is a ground issue - where would the ground be located? Running out of ideas. Anyone?
  12. What else could control the indicators on one side of the car only?
  13. I thought there was only one indicator relay?? Is there two? If so where?
  14. Thanks. I have tried your suggestion with no success. Strangely I noticed the small bulb on top of the hazard switch was not on when the hazards were going. Have I a faulty hazard switch?? The symptoms exactly - indicators work fine on nearside. Indicators do not work on offside - front, wing and rear, and indicator relay is clicking twice as fast, which in my mind means there is a problem somewhere - not enough load or a short. With hazards on, only the nearside is working, but the hazard switch is not detecting a problem as it is clicking normally. All bulbs work as i have swapped them over with the nearside to check. Any more thoughts anyone?
  15. Anyone know why my indicators would now only work on one side (passenger) and not at all on the drivers side? Even when the hazards are on, it's just the one side that works. I have checked the 10A fuses in the footwell, the relay seems fine. The bulb holders and wiring seem fine also. It's typical. Tomorrow is MOT time, and yet at the weekend they were fine! Any thought appreciated.
  16. Did this get resolved? Code 34 come up today on my zed. Already have the bypass, so might have to do something like this.
  17. I never knew there would be connections in the footwell except for the fuse box there. Is there any pictures of where I should be looking (now it is dark and I will have to use my phone to see there!)?
  18. So a few hours tonight of further investigation and it is definitely the looms - corrosion I would imagine, as they were working before the winter. Anyone got any looms spare at all? They need to be able to accommodate twin filament bulbs rather than single filament ideally.
  19. Yes more thinking required. I have no LED bulbs - all standard. So, it can only be something to do with the body ground or the connectors - as if the side lights work but the indicators are shorting/grounding or something else (to replicate a short) - it must be do with the wiring. Maybe a replacement loom from the connector is the way forward?
  20. On the same loom are the side lights, and they work fine, as do the fogs. I have checked the indicator stalk and the looms that go into it, and they seem untampered with and original. It's got me foxed. If the side lights weren't working then I would know its the loom and a possible connection/short but since they are working fine, I can only assume it is something maybe inside the indicator stalk itself maybe?
  21. I noticed on starting the Zed for the first time in a fortnight that my front indicators were not working. As usual, I checked the bulbs, as it's on both sides, the relay, the indicator stalk and fuses. All seems OK. The hazards work fine and as normal, and on the fronts also which eliminates the bulbs being the issue, or corroded bulb holders. I also noticed that when I put the indicators on, it clicks twice as fast which may indicate a short somewhere, but where? Any ideas anyone? The back light indicators and side indicators also blink twice as fast. Something is not happy but what?
  22. I would not touch this for £1850+. £850 may be!
  23. Totally agree Dan. Where possible, we should help each other out - it makes this forum more of a community. Luckily I have a few decent chaps who liver near me, whose advice and time has been invaluable (you know who you are!).
  24. Agreed. It was a good turnout!
