What did you do to your zed today?
It's definitely a custom job, Paul. The basic design of the Z32 doorcards and their accessories didn't change over the entire production run.

Say hello to Ned the Zed's new owner! :)

Electric fans!?
Yeah, cos CFM isn't important in a cooling context or anything...

The Carbon Fibre Thread
Er, what? Why on earth would anyone carbon skin a part, then hydrodip it...? If people are thinking of having things like interior door handles or pods made from carbon, you can be reasonably sure that they're not going to be doing it to save weight; they're doing it for the looks. So, as good as hydrodipping can look, nothing tops the appearance of real CF if you're into that sort of thing.

The Carbon Fibre Thread
Have you considered simply carbon skinning parts, rather than outright moulding and manufacture? It'd certainly be "easier" to skin them, I think. :) If you need any advice on fabricating moulds, maybe drop Car.Mad a PM as that's something he knows plenty about. :thumbup1:

I hope he's got his shiny new seats fitted for this.... ;) Enjoy, Richie :thumbup1:

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
In all honesty, something with a similar sound to what I have now will do me nicely. Of course, the 3" pipework all the way through is going to cause an increase anyway so I'll probably end up having resonators fitted to the testpipes to dampen things down a little. I have every confidence that it'll look and sound really nice. Plus a little performance increase won't hurt at all! :)

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Well, I keep changing my mind! My original plan was to get them to replicate the look of the Veilside Evolution system. But then I was offered a Veilside system recently for a very good price, only it was for the LWB so would've required extensive modification to fit mine. I don't care if it's sacrilege to cut one up or not - the only thing that stopped me getting it was the cost of having it modified to fit. :( Then I thought that even emulating that system wouldn't look all that different to what I currently have fitted, so it was back to the drawing board! I haven't completely made my mind up yet, so I think the best thing is to have a look at their selection of tailpipe options and go from there. I've given Infinity an idea of what I fancy, but nothing's set in stone yet. Apart from having a full 3" system with an X-pipe :thumbup1:

Thanks Graham  I've also decided that I'm going to have a couple of little niggles tidied up before things like Beaulieu (sp?) and the AGM, so the front lip will be going off to be repaired and repainted, and I'll also get my replacement immaculate rear spats painted in the correct colour too. :) Then, all being well, it'll be time to start thinking about the turbos....!!

Looks like I'll be having a couple of days in Bristol next month. :) I'm booked in with Infinity on June 8th to have my 3" downpipes fitted and a full 3" exhaust fabricated and fitted. So it made sense to book in with Jimmer for the day before to get my chassis stripped and sealed! It's going to be a very expensive couple of days, but it'll definitely be worthwhile! :thumbup1:

SWB Powerflow exhaust system
I will shortly have for sale the current exhaust from my SWB. It's a Powerflow catback, ending with a 4" slashcut, rolled edge tailpipe on each side. The cats have been removed from the stock system and straight pipes welded in their place. The entire system, from the turbos back, will be available but I must stress that everything from the front of the cat location to the turbos is completely standard. It's a decent enough system, although the Powerflow pipework isn't all that great - there are some dents and creases in the pipes before the rear boxes where it looks like it's been made to fit. It doesn't leak though and it has a pretty nice tone to it. It will either be available from Powerzed in Bristol or I could potentially drop it off on Wednesday, June 8th if the buyer lives anywhere between Bristol and County Durham. :) Make me an offer if it's any good to anyone!

Reconditioning turbos - recommendations please
Was that quote for the pair, Chris?

Are there many Z31's out there?
There's one less than 2 minutes away from my front door! It's reasonably nice, but it looks incredibly dated next to the Z32 in my opinion. That said, there's a very nice white one on eBay at the moment...!!

Reconditioning turbos - recommendations please
I'm considering having a pair of standard snails recon'd and uprated, rather than shelling out for brand new ones - good idea or bad? If a good idea, can anyone recommend a good place to have this done? If a bad idea, may I ask why...? Thanks :)

Offset with 350z Brembros
According to a quick Google search, the max diameter of the Skyline front discs is 324mm. :( The potential is there, I guess, to mix'n'match though... 350Z front setup with Skyline rears. I imagine this'll probably be the route I'll end up taking. Sorry for the hijack!!

Offset with 350z Brembros
And this is for the 345mm front discs, yeah...?

Offset with 350z Brembros
Just to hijack this slightly: Westy, can you confirm the work needed to fit the 350Z Brembos to the front hub please? I've heard it's as simple as enlarging the mounting holes, but I'd like to be completely sure before I head off down that path myself please :thumbup1:

Ionic dynamics, anyone heard of them?
My issue stemmed from the product I ordered not actually being what it was described as, Chris. It turned into a bit of a court case on here but it eventually got sorted out in a fairly satisfactory manner. As I said though, the quality of the parts was really good and I couldn't fault that at all. :)

Ionic dynamics, anyone heard of them?
FunkySi's rear spoiler is from them. I bought a pair of fibreglass rear spats from them about a year ago, which turned into a bit of a debacle! The quality of the goods, however, was really impressive! :thumbup1: Not sure that Jose (the guy who runs Ionic) will be too keen to trade with the UK now though... he said as much at the end of our dealings...

I think that your green pinstripe is just a black one that's discoloured over the years....

"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Thanks, guys :) The cupholder is actually surprisingly useful, for me anyway. A can of Coke or whatever fits perfectly in there and doesn't protrude so far as to get in the way of the gearchange badly. It's not the ideal place for one, granted, but it's better than not having one. I got it off eBay (from the US) but I haven't seen them advertised for ages now... As for my interior, I'm in a bit of a quandary! The current seat trim was a serious rush job, just so I could actually have them finished, so there are a couple of areas that need some attention fitment-wise. I also want to change all the topstitching for silver grey, which means trimming everything from scratch. That's not so much of a problem as I have everything here to do so (aside from time, of course) but I'm debating changing the designs a little, to make the seats a little less generic... but I don't want to go too far and spoil the overall effect... Decisions decisions!

A Nissan Cube, of all things! Anyway, yesterday saw me tagging along with a load of Ford boys and girls and heading to a show in Hurworth, near Darlington. I went here last year so, seeing as she's been resprayed, retrimmed and rewheeled since then, I thought I should attend this year too. There was a good cross-section of vehicles there; from old-school Fords to genuine pre-50s classics, American muscle to 90s Japanese, bikes and Bond Bugs! Pretty much all tastes were catered for and the attendance (from both exhibitors and general public) was massive. The weather genuinely couldn't have been nicer and I'm sunburned beautifully! The Zed got polished up and looked very out of place amonst a big line-up of Fords  Lots of positive comments were made and it was fairly rare that there wasn't a decent crowd of people around her, taking photos. A thoroughly enjoyable day of chilling out and relaxing, with some good mates and some lovely cars. If only all Sundays could be like that!

What did you do to your zed today?
So today, I went to a car show in Hurworth, near Darlington. I tagged along with some mates with Fords, got the polish out and turned a few heads... And there was another Zed there!! Didn't manage to speak to the owner, but the reg looks familiar to me... Some other cars... Cracking day and I got loads of positive comments about my Zed, so thoroughly enjoyable!
