  1. also paul, what are slk32 AMGs like? are they reliable? and do they still have the handling dynamics of the lesser SLKs?
  2. sometimes i go down surrey or se london, guess i could take a trip to kent at some point... is there a manual way to reset the check engine light, and see if it reappears?
  3. that imprezza is an RA something or other i think, they do fetch a bit more, but true that scooby is the cheapest of the lot unless its a late 90's model i think
  4. s2000 insurance is pretty expensive from when i've gotten quotes in the past, no idea why though!
  5. they all cost similar money is what i can see, and are generally jap performance cars true that they are all pretty different.
  6. is there any way to do an onboard ECU diagnostic on a 2001 SLK 230 kompressor as we do on the zed? the one i'm using has the check engine light on but I was told it was a coilpack on cylinder 3 that was at fault, but was replaced a few months ago and the light is back... can anyone help?
  7. i think s2000, followed by s15, then dc5 then scooby.... which s2000 you looking at? the pre or post facelift? also the bmw m-roadster falls into your price bracket but isnt jap obviously... but a great car nonetheless.
  8. believe me a well looked after zed feels and goes much better than even a well looked after corrado... that is to say cars with completely renewed suspension and a good condition engine... like mine was :( the z32 and corrado are in totally different leagues, but both are great within their own class.
  9. a bit off topic, am i going mad... ive recently been thinking about getting as much for the zed as i can, breaking the rest, then putting some more cash together to get a BMW M Roadster? :S the 325 BHP S50 model.... anyone have any experience of them? even if my car is a Cat C, i'd be stuck with it for ever as no one would buy it off me...
  10. getting a little closer now... been offered 4500 quid, still Cat B but I reckon I can get higher than this, as FunkySi mentioned, I will send a bunch of clippings etc to show how much the car is worth, i'll try and push for 6500 (insured value), although they may meet me in the middle at 5500 which i suppose is a fair deal still. I am also pushing to have the car reclassified as a Cat C so that I can repurchase and fix the car up... however if the car remains a Cat B, they will let me keep it for a small fee for breaking etc and sign that I will not put the car on the road again.
  11. they know its a UK car... :(
  12. the insurance designated 'engineers' have deemed my car a Cat B!!! Furthermore their initial payout was only £2k! Can you beleive it! I have sent the engineers a long list of work and mods done in the past year to the value of 6500 quid, hopefully they will increase the payout... And I am fighting long and hard to have the car redesignated Cat C. There are far worse Cat C cars out there, anyone with access to a utility like Bluecycle will see this! If I get 4-5 grand and get to keep the car as a cat c i'll be happy... best case scenario is 6.5k and the car as a cat c... wishful thinking eh. why do insurance companies have to be so hard to deal with? you pay your premium, and the only time you have to use them for a claim, they act like tossers.
  13. pretty cool! leigh i'll call you later today bud... been really bloody busy
  14. damn i remember this! i used to play lotus turbo challenge and sensible soccer on my amiga too!
  15. i can see next week being pretty long with negotiating etc... the insurance co reckon its going to be about 7k worth of repairs... i said wtf! the labour figure came to 2300 quid, so fck knows what parts theyre thinking of using! but the insurance are awaiting the formal breakdown etc which i will contest/offer alternatives to, hopefully to my favour. the rep at the insurance company is very helpful. however they are yet to value the car too... its not yet a write off... maybe the car will be rightly valued at more than the repair figure!! bad news is that a-plan dont normally let you buy your car back after a write off and they increased my renewal from 910 to 1860, ****s. i'm thinking of leaving the world of the z32, the cars arent getting any younger and i'm generally pissed off. as mentioned before i wouldnt go thru insurance if it wasnt for the ******* council barriers i broke... on the other hand if i manage to buy the car back and if the car becomes a cat c then no one will ever buy it after me, and thats also a bad situation... dillemmas dillemmas... in the mean time ive got temporary cover on my brothers slk230 kompressor at the mo which he is about to sell...
  16. paul, did you see the new GTR? what does it look like in the flesh, does it have a good presence? although it was still camouflaged...
  17. whats happening to your car? hoe comes its taking so long?
  18. excellent plan... i'll see how the inspections, estimates etc unfold this week and once the car is on the lift find out exactly what else is messed up and seek advice from you guys. thanks darren
  19. yeah..... thats what I was thinking :( Oh you will definitely get a bill for that. The police will file their report to the council, who will then get an estimate for the damage from their maintenance company who will then recover the cost from you. It will be a sustantial bill to. Well over £1000 Im sure. And dont be surprised if it takes months to get to you. Im talking from experience here. So make sure your insurance company knows all about it before the bill arrives.
  20. totally, most people wouldnt buy a cat-c high performance car.... i was planning to keep the car for a couple more years, i guess i need to wait for estimates etc etc
  21. i'm with Ensign insurance through A-Plan... My only concern is that I have basically bent and messed up 2 roadside barriers that belong to the council, and I dont want a bill for those! If i got the car out before the feds drove past, I would have not gone through the insurance company and let the council deal with the barriers on their own. If I didnt go though insurance, and a bill from the council came home, I would have to pay for it, right?
  22. as some of you may know, i have had an accident in my zed, my insurer is A-Plan, has anyone here had to claim with them specifically and what has your experience been like? if a cars a write-off do they let you buy the car off them at a reasonable price etc etc? link to my accident info darren
  23. thanks to greg and everyone else who offered help... just hope a-plan deal with the case fairly!
  24. i was pretty shaken once the accident actually happened, i was probably in the car for about 1 to 2 minutes before getting out, and the pedestrians had ran away. there were no witnesses either, and the car was pretty much blocking one lane so i couldnt exactly leave it there and look for the fookers... the cops were pretty understanding and helpful (once I showed them my press card), and after taking statements etc they didnt even give me a producer. i'm hoping so badly that this isnt a writeoff... if it is i'll buy the car back and probably sort it all out myself.
  25. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT GUYS. your comments and support are very much appreciated; Alan i'll see what i the damage repair guy says and i'll keep you in mind, Thanks a lot bud...
