  1. Nice one RyJay - what pads did you go for?
  2. Thanks for all the feedback. I have an early n/a brake setup. Hands to know TT will bolt straight on. Thanks for the offer of the discs Stephen but not looking to anything urgently so if you've got another buyer send them that way! More future proofing!
  3. Hi guys, Currently running n/a brakes and it seems it's getting harder to find good value brake discs anywhere? Albeit not loads of performance difference, what's needed for a TT brake conversion. Similar performance I know but parts much easier to find
  4. Thanks Jeff! Affordable fixes always welcome! Yea I did check the MOT history before buying online and noticed bits and bobs that are bound to need looking at. Will get the bushes ordered so hopefully get that ticked off
  5. First up is new boots all round - drove home like it was on 50p pieces! Been stood a while. Engine seems good and dry, no leaks. Just had belts and water pump done. Had a couple of areas of welding sorted out and the car undersealed. Brakes stop well but squeal like a pig. Needs a bit of work on the body, but handily my brother works for a body shop so I'll be tapping him up! Generally needs tarting up inside. Gear linkages could probably use replacing as they feel a little sloppy. Engage absolutely fine but does feel like there is a small lettuce where the linkages should be haha. Decent mileage though, under 80k. As ever it's a project, but hoping I can bring it back up to scratch.
  6. Well that's encouraging!
  7. Well hello again! 3 years after having to part ways with the old zed because of heart trouble - I'm back on it! Happy days! Picked a naughty shorty from Mark. Needs a little work, but hey, that's how they usually come right! N/A manual, should be good for some fun
  8. Hi peeps. Just got a shorty but it only has 1 key with it, and it only fits the ignition. Remote locking only! So has anyone got a lock set with keys going? Don't need ignition barrel, just doors and boot!
  9. Looks awesome daz! Driveway looks better than the last time I saw it too :)
  10. looking great daz! You still in the market of making awesome twin single DIN to double DIN centre console conversions? Guess who's buying another zed
  11. What indicators did you use? Perfect shape!
  12. good to see you back in the zed game! you always go the extra mile. I'm a bit of a stock look purist but when the work is done this well then the gods have to forgive you. Looking stunning.
  13. would make the owner an offer for her in a heartbeat! one very much missed car!
  14. Just wondering if my old Zeds out there anywhere! Miss the old girl!
  15. Looking for a project, don't mind considering a vehicle with mechanical issues but must have a solid shell. Don't mind if the bodywork is scruffy. Had heart trouble a couple of year ago, so sold my zed thinking I wouldn't get back in to it - however, one full recovery later I'm in the hunt again!! Miss my old zed! Got a couple of grand to spend. Try me!
  16. the old gal was bought by a trader.. although he rang me back the following day to say he was loving driving the car so much that he thinks hes going to keep it and remap it now the new injectors are in. thanks for the positive vibes people. I cant see me being projectless forever, just going to keep stashing the pennies away and maybe something will come up next year and all being well i wont be looking back at these last few weeks! nice SWB manual maybe. we havent sold the mrs starlet gt turbo, so thats (partially) filling the void in the garage.. need to do a brakes overhaul in a few months for its mot really, so that'll be a good test of where i'm at.
  17. So guys, it is with a heavy heart I've parted ways with the old gal! After my health trouble, I had to make a tough decision and accept after a heart attack and operation on my wrist in july, that I wouldnt get back to tinkering with the motor anytime soon, and that it was time for me to sell up :( She didnt take long to sell, was bought by a trader in the end, but I'd hope she'll crop up on here at somepoint when she gets into her new owners hands! Just want to say a BIG THANKS to anyone and everyone who has given advice, helped problem solve and/or has come over and given me a hand with bits and bobs. This is a great car community, really supportive, good atmosphere, good bunch, and hey, maybe one day further down the line I'll get back to it (i hope!) This is the last shot I took of her looking very grumpy with me! Sorry Audrey! thanks again guys!
  18. as described.. i here theres a few around. JWT, Dixon etc. Recommendations please - and where did you get yours? - - - Updated - - - and that would be 550cc if i could type correctly
  19. thats really odd, as my car insurance has gone down with lancaster this year from 220 to 200...
  20. oh man thats awful! that car looked lush when it was up for sale too
  21. i'd love to see it raised really, but it does raise the question - won't the traffic just bottleneck more at all the choke points? with traffic arriving faster it could make things worse... our roads need a total overhaul, wider junctions, bigger roundabouts, more bypasses.
  22. Yea when she's all done i'll get before and after pics up. She'll be going in November after payday. She'll look pretty tidy after this :) Next year I can focus on the engine. Oil leak from the crank case is just enough to be annoying, not sure if I'll be going for more power yet, but if I do then she's at the point where I'd have to go down the forged route ;)
