  1. Looks well nice mate. Loving the rims and the rear diffuser. Did you get all this done at Custom Exotics? Is it a standard Nissan black paint? Thanks, Mike...
  2. And most skylines are UGLY as hell. Only the R34 has any appeal for me and they are ridiculously expensive...
  3. I have spent the day on a calssic car treasure hunt around suffolk. I was driving this red 4.3 litre 2 seater e-type jag in the morning :nana2: And the red MGB cabrio in the afternoon. There was a bit of a "sh1t yourself moment" in the morning when a corner cam up a little fast and the brakes locked up as we are careering toward a hedge. Luckily my boss (who was driving at the time) knew what to do and the car was not even scratched. ;) We went back up the same road later and we found skid marks of about 3 feet. The e-type was a great thrill to drive, just looking out over the bonnet from the cockpit is exhilarating. It is a quite close ratio 4 speed box and it loves to accelarate. The steering was extremely heavy (as you expect with no power steering) but also felt inaccurate and did not inspire confidence. The brakes were awesome as they had just been rebuilt. It was a great day out and we won the first prize trophy and a couple of bottles of bubbly! :hyper: What a day...
  4. More interesting opinions. I think I have decided to keep the zed for now (unless someone makes me a very good offer). I think I would have ended up choosing the S2000 in the end. It's the RWD top down fun that was appealing. Royal you are right about the scooby, they are quick but they either seem boring or ugly!
  5. Wahey! :hyper:
  6. My last 2 MOTs have cost me nothing! still, I agree with you Justin I have spent easily double that in between MOTs to kepp it on the road. But I love it more than ever after today (see other thread) Oi Nick! IA little birdie told me you new Zed is not very healthy at the moment?
  7. I couldn't put it any better myself...
  8. Hey Wozzer, I thought you might have something to say! Spongey, I have got this car pretty much perfect now. I think I am just having a bit of a mid/late twenties breakdown! LOL I have realised that there is very little out there that is even near as good all round package as the Zed, not until you start talking stupid money. It's got the looks it's got the power and mine handles very well. P.S. The missus is trying to get me to buy her a Figaro, she must be fvckin joking!
  9. That is my biggest worry. Getting rid of a very tidy looking, fast, rare, track proven, head-turning motor just to end up with something dissapointing. Fvck, I think I am talking myself into keeping the Zed. Damn my inability to make decisions... :wack: :wack: :wack:
  10. I have only recently had the alloys refurbed and I love them! It has been booked in with the mechanic to sort out the small boost issue, so should have around 350/360bhp when done. I think I am going to go and test drive a few things before I make up my mind. I agree with you Si, there is very little that I could consider a step up from the Zed...
  11. I know. I know. I have been having second thoughts about selling up. Maybe I should just keep it and get it sprayed black, that would be a change!
  12. Thanks for the response so far. I am in a situation where I am bored with what I have got and want a change. I want something newer than the zed. I would like it to be sporty (and good for the track) but I am not worried if it is slower than the zed because I know not much can keep up with it. I know that the scooby poo will have the best performance out of the lot (that one in the picture is a fresh jap import 1997 version 4. I have pretty much ruled out the s15 because they are overpriced for what they are. I know that both the Hondas are going to be bullet proof. I have been told that the 1998 onward dc2 integra is actually a better/quicker car than the dc5 even though it is only a 1.8vtec. and while I do really like them, I am not sure I can go back to FWD cars. So that leaves me with the S2000 or the Scooby. It will be easy to get both of these serviced and I wont need much in the way of mods for either of them. I think I would go for Scooby if they didn't make that stupid "put put" exhaust noise. OH, I am confused...
  13. I'm having a bit of trouble making my mind up about what car to get next. Please help me out by using the poll above. If you have any specific reason why I should (or shouldn't) go for one marque in particular please post below. Thanks, Mike...
  14. Have a good one Paul. :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: Happy birthday...
  15. From what I understand it is quite rare for either the actuators or the wastegates failing as they are very simple mechanic devices. My worry is not the cost of parts as second hand units should work fine my worry is that the labour costs could be quite high and I'm not even 100% sure in my diagnosis! Ahh the pleasures of owning a zed. Nice Zed you've got there by the way. SWB manual TT is definitely the way to go! :D
  16. I have a similar problem at the moment. It normally overboosts when I have my boost controller on even though it drove perfectly for the first 6 months after installation. I obviously do not drive with the controller on at the moment. The funny thing is that it will overboost with the BC on, then when I turn it off I can get 16/17psi when it should be only 7psi. I believe that my wastegates are sticking occasionally rather than being stuck in the shut position. I am hoping to get mine looked at by a specialist next week. One thing you can do to test whether they are opening is to connect a compressor to the wastegate line and physically watch to see if it is opening. Also, the passenger side is quite easy to see and not too hard to work on but the drivers side is an absolute ******* to get too. I hope that helps. Mike...
  17. The Zed lives to fight another day! It was great fun and I really learnt a lot about how to drive on the limit and how to follow the racing line. I did get a bit of brake fade when I was driving like an idiot but I had an instructor in the afternoon and he showed me what I was supposed to do and after that I had no real problems. It is all about being smooth on the pedals and taking the right lines. Boldy - That footage is quite good. I see you went throught the chicane sideways too! Wozzer - I did get quite a bit of in-car footage of my car (taken in my mates car). I'll show you next time we meet up. maybe we can stick a bit up on your youtube site? Darrell - I did actually end up facing backwards at one point. We had a couple of sessions in the dry, then on the third session we had a tiny amount of rain. I slowed down a lot but clearly not as much as I should! Anyway, I end up facing backwards on the track and just ease myself off so I am not in anyones way. Luckily there was no one near me when I did it! Edit - here are some piccies... And Yes, I overtook that Lambo Diablo!
  18. They will still fade on the track! 1. Brakes 2. Suspension 3. Engine Cooling Then start upping the power. Oh, and 17psi can be fine if you have the fuelling to match...
  19. Just thought I would let you know I'm off to Donington this Sunday for my first ever track day! I am very excited :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: but also a bit nervous about brake fade! I'll try and get some pics up when I am back.
  20. That's a little harsh, she is probably getting paid quite well for all of that and I am sure it was her decision. Also - every girl/woman out there is someone's daughter, that's life...
  21. Thanks to all of you, only just seen this, been in Paris! :wack: Thanks especially to Wozz... :xxx:
  22. Nice one Darrell. It's nice to turn heads isn't it? When are we all going to meet up?
  23. Looks real good Keith, very high standard of work there. Well done...
  24. He can't do any worse than the muppets who are already in power! LOL...
  25. Nice work Karl, I bet that Evo of yours can smoke a lot of other cars with that sort of power...
