What Horn you using? and a thought of venture....
will sure read and watch some videos on the topic before digging my teeth into it :) and Just had a thought of what would happen if this was the case with Zed timing...

What Horn you using? and a thought of venture....
My main concern with the belt is. ( can I get all cams fixed so there is no movement on them as I release the tensioner? specially the bottom one where the marker will be a B!t$h to get to alone, then making the correct alignment in such claustrophobic spot ) and wouldn't with this one try to apply my wise words of { EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE, WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE AND A HAMMER} hahaha that standard horn is sure a joke... would rather use a bike bell than it..... I LIKE THE AIR horn for sure. just wondering where to hook it... and fear pressing it in the local proximity by mistake late evenings/nights, and get the car key'd for it by one of the London Villains with an ASBO-on-his-CV... hahaha btw, does all three of them use a single wiring/fixing of 12v??

I thought with the markers already on pullies, it would be just a matter of lining up with marks on engine and those on the belt... are there any belts recommended? as was thinking of getting the best I can get my hands on. not a place to be cutting corners for sure... and my fear has been of touching the tensioner... now I dread the removal of pipes for first time... as never done a a belt on a V engine myself before... then again BMW's ran on chain that lasted way past the scrap date... :D

indeed Sir. though the amount of fun and creative products that will come out of a single winters harvest will be enough to propel a rocket out of space :D

will the counting be due to missing markers on belt? what risks are there for missing a one or two on any of the pullies? cheers :) - - - Updated - - - will the counting be due to missing markers on belt? what risks are there for missing a one or two on any of the pullies? cheers :)

What Horn you using? and a thought of venture....
Just wondered about Horns people are using? and what is not permitted... as I have only pressed the horn once on my zed. and not sure if this is a JDM thing... but Good Lord, the thing sounds like a knackered Reebok Classic :D thought of dual tone AIR Horn on 12v. but not sure if that fits the bill, and wondered about tones they produce.. also tempted to check with a mechanic friend of mine if he is going to scrap any customers car that has a Good horn maybe.... but will sure have a listen to it first :D My current horn is actually a twin Jap Exhaust... will need to take a Pic of the writing and find out more about it. as it sounds Great... ( for the 1st time i got stuck in lights behind my Zed.. and once my friend Pulled off the lights, I was sure to abort sale thoughts/idea :D ) ** for the technical Lot out there** if I want to change the Timing belt and water Pump, can I do so with Just loosening the front. without disconnecting Hoses, etc?? as will be looking to get the Air-con Hardware off too... and lighten the thing up :) can that be easily accessed with the engine still mounted? **While I am at it** anyone got tips on Refurbing Rims?? Temptation to Keep my Nismo's for a bit longer and get them nice and shiny. then in May/June look for a new set..

RB26 on a ZED!
Wow, a V10 viper lump is a menacing thought with the amount of torque these things produce. I remember a Local who had the RT10 when they came out. that car was a beast just ticking over.. let alone with the right amount of clear tarmac ahead of it.. but with an 8L displacement, i guess a pony goat will have that level of madness. got to say though Bhp per/Liter and mpg on american cars is just a disaster. unless a hemi block is strapped to it :D most of the time I think 5.7L V8's then a 2L jap can do it better ;) That Camper was like Usain Bolt overtaking marathon pace... and the spoiler/splitter/low-ride/wheel arches to fit those tyres made the thing look mighty... not forgetting the multi tone paint back then that was Only available on TVR's guess the guy put some serious investment on that. as it was flying. and didn't sound close to Redline overtaking me... temptation to give it a bit of gas and see him on my rear view mirror had to be suppressed, so I can enjoy the van out of comic books  I will have to youtube that Top-Gear episode for sure :)

RB26 on a ZED!
Now that is one of those kinds that get me going  i spoke to a guy few years back, he had his powered by an SL 350 engine... and saw one on my way to Holland overtake me in Belgian highways while i was doing 150mph.. when I caught him in a service station... couldn't communicate... as I am not well informed when it comes to the Spanish Language... car was on a Catalonia Plates..

RB26 on a ZED!
I hear you there. the V10 thought was on the menu. though was thinking of getting an engine from a written off Audi R8 V10... or an american 5.7L Block... thoughts are endless. I just need to put head down and get on with one of them ideas :) Many many THANKS for the great literature provided and the low down on various technical areas :) btw: is anyone here a fan of Split screen VW Campers? wondered about fitting water cooled engine on the back of one of these... Pro's and con's!!

RB26 on a ZED!
the reason i said BMW, is due to the fact i have a 2.8L 6cyl, and a 4.4 V8 both with less than 50k on clocks.. and the 4.4 is twin turbo with torque to rip the tarmac out of the highway... as it is coming out of a 7series... so on a zed will sure get the desired effect in every possible way. but I am certain someone will tell me it will stick out of the bay like an american Big-block... so thought the straight 6... to be honest, I have had few zeds in the past. and 2 of them were driven all year round. so thinking of a BMW that is good for 250K+ on the chain seems more logical. and with regular oil changes should be more than fine... the pairing German to Japanese is like interracial P0%N... either love it or Loath it... the current thought is on few projects... one of them will commence soon. either the Zed. or a a Kawasaki ZX12 engine on a smart for TWO. or an old Mini with a V5 golf engine. or the BIG ONE, a 60's VW Camper split screen with a 3.2 Porsche engine... since the last project went sweet with a G430 benz converted to 600 V12 AMG Bi-Turbo. another one is on the menu. Either way, the Z32 engine will more likely be rebuilt and stored away for future classic preservation and maybe even fitting it in a speed boat one day..

RB26 on a ZED!
Great and very enriching wealth of information there gents :) my whole idea was regarding creating space in the bay. to ease the burden of working on Belts Tubs etc... if it is not saving space and will be as tight a Dogs &o((ox. then there is not point really... unless I go a radical way and Mate two 1.3 Suzuki Motorbikes engines.. and not even sure they will fit in that bay.... I somehow thought RB should be fine since the floor plan of R32 and Z32 is the same from what a friend mentioned... though his Z32 had some madness done to it over the years. started with trimming and welding the bay to fit a 4L V8 from a LS400. then went with an SL55 amg in his Z32 which I believe he is still using in the middle east with the charged 5.5 V8 last I heard he was Looking for a RT10 Viper engine to try fit in there somehow... my main idea is to be able to sort things with ease in there... and not needing to take the whole thing off to do what ever needs doing due to the claustrophobic space.. just saw the JD V8 5L. looks like similar with space clearance.. could a 2.8L BMW straight-6 be mated to these cars? and with Chain timing, guess will be a decent route... though not a big fan of straight-6 on standard form... will sure need playing with mods and my main concerns will be on 1/ will the Box connect to BMW Block? 2/ will the BM Block stick too high on the ZED's Bay? Might revise this after going through above responses one more time ;)

RB26 on a ZED!
Has or does anyone here know of a zed powered by an RB26 Engine in this forum? and how much of space is there in the bay after the swap? plus what is needed for such conversion?

Brake pipe options
Fair point Steams. I had Goodridge braided all round on my previous zed. seemed more than fine on road driving. though track was a different ball game.
-
Brake pipe options
have you got 4 wheel steering still? I would think solid pipe is only suited for LOCKED hicas setup.

Got mine too. Cheers Gaz

Outer HICAS ball joints
was wondering if this will work for Zed's too?

High powered Zeds and traction?
I had the pleasure on my first Zed. 11 years ago out of a petrol station... and little did I know of the effect of Diesel+wet road... took me a while before I had faith on taming another beast... and I was running 471-HP at the wheels. have a mate out in Kuwait with 940hp... lost it on sandy tramac road... wasn't pleasant at all... and he was running on R-345/35ZR-18.. you just can't be sure with these beasts I guess.

300zx kit car?
I have been thinking of an Ariel Atom or MEV Rocket frame with a TT engine in it. guess lots of work will be needed to mount a rear engine and make it rear wheel or 4WD.. anyone knows if it is possible to mount the engine over the rear axle and not need major MOD's?

is there any literature or article here that covers repair to fiber glass Bumpers? thinking of going the re-spray route than vinyl wrapping. though not sure of resin and primer application procedure..- How much will this cost in the UK roughly?
cheers for the link. looks like missing arms indeed :) - Fiber glass
