This problem is almost always firewall related Vijay. You definitely haven't got Norton Internet Security running have you (the usual culprit with LAN access). The fact that you can't turn the Windows firewall on suggests that there is another firewall running... Have you set the IP address of each computer manually? If you're not using a router then you need to ensure that both computers have an IP address in the same subnet (eg: 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2). Run IPCONFIG on both machines from the command prompt and see what is reported... HTH Steve :)
