  1. So your saying it's worth more broken in to parts then??? So what does that make a cheaply moded jap import worth on the current market??? What value would you put on yours for instance???
  2. Play nicely lads and no offence taken anyone and thanks for the opinons and advice as I said on my original post in the newbies section I would be asking!!! If I keep the car it has to be right that's how I build them and if I decide to sell I want to be proud that the person who buys it knows the work and care and sometimes the love that's gone in to the car. It's got to be right or don't bother, why do a job twice, and I'm getting a soft spot for the Zed!!!!!!
  3. Tighter than a ducks arse Bob!!!
  4. The plan is to keep and enjoy her but I don't want to spend more than she's worth I've done that once when I got married!!! Hope the wife dose'nt see this!!!
  5. Mines undergoing a full restore Baz to absolute original, the reason I'm asking is the paint job is being done soon and it's in the region of £1500, I want the car to be as good as new to drive and if I do sell I want the new owner to enjoy the amount of work I have put in. Just want to drive her now!!!!
  6. Found this it's the exact same car but mines black and l lower mileage but in black, is this person dreaming or is this a genuine valuation??? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201148431487787/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/300_zx/make/nissan/quicksearch/true/postcode/sk83eu/page/1/radius/1501/image-id/1879143630?logcode=p Daz?
  7. As some of you know I'm restoring a UK 300zx to original, the car has 45k on it with a full Nissan service history and all paper work to back this up, the cars never been crashed or abused as I know all the previous owners As well. The only none standard parts are the exhausts which is a full stainless system I also have the original system. What's the car worth to sell full done with a pro paint job as well to the standard black it came out of the showroom with? The reason I ask this is not to sell but how much to spend on paint and prep, I have a decision to make!!! Thanks, Daz.
  8. Thanks, so chuffed, it's been a tough couple of years building them I can finish the Zed now!!! I build and run the Subaru and the orange Mazda 323 touring car in the edition feels like the hard works payed off.
  9. Mine were bust so drilled the bolts out and the rethreaded them, used the metal sleeves and replaced the bolts job done, if you cant tap the threads out use a bolt on the back of the bracket, there’s enough room between the panel and the bracket for this. Daz.
  10. Update in the newbies bit and a quick list of jobs done.
  11. Right here we go, got the Zed in July after being stood for 11 years and mechanically its job done so the list so far: Drill and replace Turbo down pipe\header studs both sides (This was the worst Job!!!) Replace all calliper seals and flex brake lines, clean the disks up and replace brake pads, bleed the entire system. Replace the clutch slave cylinder and bleed the clutch, nice place to put a bleed point behind the drivers head lamp!!! Change all filters and levels, flush all coolers and check the pipes and unions. Go through all the suspension and steering and replace all the steering fluids and check all the joints. Fit the stainless exhausts and replace damaged mounts and hangers and all the rubbers. New tyres all round. Fit driver’s side return panel and check and clean all the targa roof drains and seals. Replace all the bulbs that weren’t working and wipers, do a full electrics check. Replace the cam belt, pullies, water pump, thermostat and auxiliary belts. That’s all for now!!! Body work and interior next!!!!!:surrender:
  12. No labour charges and parts for cost are a big help!!! Body work and job done!!! Might wait for spring to run it though!!!!
  13. Finished the car last night and mechanically it's now perfect and runs so well, couldn’t test driver due to 5 inches of snow in Buxton and just moving it around the car park was bad enough!!!! Off to the body shop and see you all in the spring I hope!!!! Daz.
  14. We use a scale under each wheel to set the corner weights and I don’t mean bathroom scales and string the car to set the tow in and out and a camber gauge for the camber. Use this system on the Subaru's, Mazda touring car, the XR2's and Catherams, all race, rally or sprint cars. We set a Seat Leon Cup car up for a lad this year and he was 2 seconds a lap faster around Island at Oulton Park. Daz.
  15. The only true way to set a car up 100% is to string it and there’s an art to doing it right as well, also if you have adjustable platforms on your struts you can corner weight a car as well, we do it with the race and rally cars. Daz.
  16. Keeps me out of trouble and the pub!!!! Love the cars and have been lucky enough to have worked on some very rare cars and travel the world and at the same time get paid and meet some of the worlds best drivers!!! not bad for a hobbie!!!
  17. Seems to be the norm at the moment!!! Work and the family bit get in the way though!!!
  18. Got the Green Impreza 22B that was in the TOTB thread with is a 2.3 engine with about 750 to 800BHP, its built with an EX works Prodrive wrc shell, carbon pannels and roof, we have built it for sprints, hill climbs and TOTB and an EX works Mazda 323F super touring car, the only one in the world and a very trick peice of kit as well, we have just done a 15 mont restoration on it but sadly after the photo shoot!!! Some pictures in my newbie thread. Daz.
  19. Body work next and fit the rear spoiler and enjoy it I hope!!!!
  20. Cam belt and water pump thermostat and aux belts done so body work next!!! I'm doing the prep work and strip down and a mate of mine is doing the paint, doing all the car, can't wait to get to the end and drive the car!!! Oh and then start the others!!! Apparently two of the cars I build and run have 16 pages of Japanese Performance in December!!!!!
  21. Cam belt aux belts done and thermostat and water pump, game on!!!
  22. Green Subaru is nearly finished and the orange Mazda touring car is done so get on with the 300 and then start the escort MK2!!! ;-) Oh and the 2 Fiesta XR2's to rebuild and a 600bhp Toyota Celica GT4. Should be quite then!!!!
  23. Looking forward to it and a step closer to finishing, cant wait for spring and getting on the road and meeting the forum members. Happy Days!!!!
  24. Doing the cam belt on my Zed tonight and changing boost pipes, water pump and pulleys, so after tonight she's 100% mechanically and ready to go. Body work next and a full re-spray over the winter :helpsmilie: and hit the road in the spring, I really can’t wait!!!!!! Daz.
