Word of warning
Wow, pretty common then, bad design that. On mine it does seem as if the plastic pipe had shrunk cause it would'nt even reach the rubber elbow, so replaced the lot.

Word of warning
Hi all, i've been having a few electrical issues with the footwell fusebox since buying my car and its been getting most annoying. Had an electrician remove cowboy wiring and thought it was sorted. Then last night the problem came back, i've spent allday on it today and finally discoverd the problem. It played up again after i washed the car so checked behind the fusebox and sure enough it was soaking wet, i pulled out plugs, relays ect.. and all soaking wet. The reason, if you remove the T roof panel you've got 2 drain holes one runs down a plastic pipe through the A post the other down the B post. The one running down the A post (windscreen pillar) had parted company with the rubber elbow joint just above the fusebox, so all the rain water was in effect hosed over the fusebox. Been out there allday with a hairdryer trying to dry it out, but i think i leave the battery disconected for tonight. May be worth checking your cars folks. By the way on the fusebox under the fuses there is a small black plug with a loop of wire coming out and going back into it, can anyone tell me what this is for. Thanks.

Seatbelt warning light staying on
Hi, When i turn my ignition on to the 2nd click all the warning lights come on as normal except the seat belt one, start the car and they all go out as they should, but when i put my seat belt on the warning light stays on. Basicly does the opposite of what it should. Any ideas? Thanks Brian.

Couple of problems
JeffTT, found the fuse box you mention, and with the battery connected there is a sizzling sound coming from that area, so you could be on the ball. Got an electrition friend coming round in the morning to trace it.

Couple of problems
The oil looked and smelled like wd40, i recon the last owner thought the ignition key release button was seizing up so gave it a squirt. Thing is whenever i turn the engine off and can't release the key with the button the A/C temp display is lit up aswell, so must be a link. Also i have to un-hook the battery cause there is a 3.5 amp drain. Does anyone know what powers the key release button on the ignition, i've been told its a sensor on the gear selector?

Couple of problems
Right i've looked at the online 300zx manual, and the auto trans and the a/c are linked in a few electrical diagrams, does anyone know if they share a live feed or relay ect... anywhere? JeffTT mentions the fuse/relay box in the drivers footwell, now im sure i can hear something going on in this area when i switch the ignition off and the A/C does go off as it should. This sounds like it could be a simple fix, but its just tracing the fault.

Couple of problems
SPOT ON MR GROOVER, took off the ignition cowling and it looks like someones soaked the whole ignition with some sort of oil, and it was shorting out the electrics. Got a tin of electrical cleaner, gave it a good clean and Bobs your uncle, climate control goes off. Lucky it did'nt catch fire i recon. Cheers guys.

Auto gearbox rev drop
Bloke at work says sounds normal to him, something to do with fuel consumption. Well i must admit i'm not to used to auto's and not to clued up on them. Like i say pulls strong changes nice and the oil in it is like new. So its sounds like its good news. Thanks, its put my mind to rest.

Auto gearbox rev drop
Hi, drove her again today and tried the o/d button, made no difference to the engine rev drop. The only way i can describe what happens is imagine your in a manual car doing say 60 then taking your foot off the gas and pushing the clutch down, the engine drops to a tickover instead of staying with the rpm of the gearbox, then when i put my foot back on the gas the revs build up from tickover back to gearbox/car speed. Its not slipping because the revs never overtake the gearbox and excelleration is as it should be (quick)

Couple of problems
Hi, have 2 things bugging me, 1 on the air con dash pod, should the temp setting stay illuminated when the ignition is off as mine does. And the other problem is the ignition key release button, quite often it wont push in and release the key. Any help would be great, Thanks. Brian.

Auto gearbox rev drop
Hi everyone, got a new (new to me)300zx on sunday, car goes really well and excelerates really good, the only thing that did'nt seem right is when cruising at say 50 or 60 if i lift my foot off the gas the engine revs drop right down to an idle, then when i put my foot back down again the engine would rev up from idle and catch up to the speed of the car. Dont no an awfull lot about auto gearboxes just seems like theres a missing link between engine and gearbox ?

A big hello to everyone
Hi everyone, just like to introduce myself, i'm Brian, i owned a 300zx about 4 years ago, sold it on and wished i never had(the wife wont let me forget either, as she loved it to), so i've bought another one today, just got it home and it was the best drive i've had in 4 years, well pleased with it. I'll post up some pictures soon. New cars a dark green, never seen the colour before, nice though.
