your right you do get in em and fall in love with it, thats what was happening tonight and then just as i'm thinking 'i will miss this' the gearbox went. nothing like bad timing to leave a sour taste in your mouth. as for the seperate run around thats what i do at the minute but i begrudge paying two insurance premiums. my insurance is daft, i pay £1000 for the zed and then £1300 for a 1.7 dti corsa. i've got a EF civic too ha so not short of cars but i'm just fed up of spending money on cars so i'm selling everything and just going to try and get one that ticks all boxes. it might be controvertial but i'll probably end up with an mx5 or something, good on fuel, cheap as to insure and can still have a bit of fun in it.

it would be and maybe its a bit unfair to blame it soley on the gearbox, more a really big last straw. i really hate the whole car selling process in all honesty and like you say i'd expect it to be summer before it sold so thats a few months to strech it out over. atm there are other things i could do with, a new run about would be ideal which i could cover by selling just a few parts relatively quickly. I would be breaking it myself and adding everything up atm it doesn't look to come out too badly, plus i'd have the money a lot faster. it would be a shame to break it though and although i could loose out i'm happy for a forum member to shoot me an offer and it go to a good home but i'm just fed up at the minute.

i'll have to see but i've just spat my dummy out with it at the mo. i love the car but i'm sick of it been on my mind over the last few weeks and while i'd enjoy changing the box if i was keeping it, changing it just to then mess about trying to sell it would be a pig. i'm unsure what to ask for the car as a whole. i'm just sat adding up the price of parts and it looks the better option. i think i'd get more and it would be easier to sell small bits. plus i only need £1500 for the new car so i'd probably have my run around a lot faster that way. best thing would be to shoot me an offer if your interested in it as a whole

just took her out for a last bit of spirited driving, accelerating in 2nd, hard shifted to 3rd and bang :/ managed to limp her home but 3rd gear was writing off and the gearbox sounded like a bag of spanners. just weighing up my options now, what am i looking at for a new gearbox fitted? tbf, I doubt i've got the money to do it for a while as per my old thread so if anyone wants to shoot me offers for the car or bits off it nows the time, cba with her atm

tbh everyone i think all my reservations are been voiced here and it's definitely how i feel in my gut. but at the same time i am trying a really balanced head. i've probably made more of an issue of insurance than it is, i can cover it but rotherham isn't the best postcode in the world and quotes are pretty dire. renewal is probably going to be about £1300 for me which is fine, but i've been looking at other things which are coming back around £600. whats also playing on my head is at the minute i'm really active. i like to be out in my free time and can't wait for summer to come around and that's where i'll probably be restricted this year if i keep it. i hope this is making sense but its one of those thing's where i don't wanna look back n be like well what did i do when i was younger and think i missed out for sake of a car, without meaning to sound daft thats not the story kid are gonna want to hear about and stuff. there's a lot going through my head at the minute so i think i'll do what jim said; put a test ad up and see what feelers i get. ultimately nothing is final until money & keys have changed hands so i can take it down at any time but in the mean time if i do get any offers or interest it gives me a few more options to consider

I appreciate everyone's advice but that really hits the nail on the head for me and puts it in perspective. I'm unsure how I'd be fixed for summer and my new career might not necessarily restrict it, by then I could even be better off than I am now but as I'll be working partially self employed there are no guarantees.

ye thats the thing, I know I would miss it and nothing else would compare fun wise. it would be ok to say i could alway buy another one at a later date too but without sounding big headed or anything i'm sure i'd really struggle to find one what came even close for me. my other concern at 23 is insurance aswell, my brother's premium has just doubled over the last year on a mg zt decisions like this absolutely suck!!

Hi, looking for a few peoples opinion and bit of advice really as I really can't decide what to do. I've been debating this for a few weeks now as I've just changed career so things are going to be a bit tight for a little while and as much as I hate to admit it running the zed regularly isn't the most sensible thing atm. I've also had to retrain as part of the change so I have the course fee's to pay which atm I'm paying monthly and it's more than affordable I'm not one who likes owing money so if I we're to sell up and get something a little cheaper for a while then I could just pay it straight off. That said while it all makes perfect sense I really haven't got the heart to do it. I love the car too much, it'd like a baby and I love all the attention it gets too. Still it's no fun having it and having it sat on the drive for the next few months. The other issue is it's not really the best time of year to be looking at selling a zed and tbf I can't even figure out what I'd ask for it. I'd want a quick sale and I'd hope £6k would be reasonable for one but is that realistic? not knowing a figure atm doesn't make things and easier I'm afraid :l Really at a loss here, that age old battle of mind vs heart, what would you do?

ye that was my original chain of thought when buying them; they follow the widearch. Just scared of it been a little too much and looking like something off of fast and furious lol. same with lowering, to me the wheels just look to fit better but again, too much?

Probably had a little too much free time this morning and been trying to decide what I want to do with the side skirts for my zed. I'm also debating possibly lowering it a bit more. I've ran a few mock ups just comparing; stock with veilside c2 skirts (which I've got upstairs waiting to go on) or maybe something different like extreme dimensions skirts. The problem is I kind of like all of them ha. I think I'm leaning towards lowered and veilside c2's but again I'm undecided so would be nice to get some opinions :) any other suggestions would be welcome too :) Top pics are skirts on the car as is and the ones below of the car lowered. after that some carbon fibre air ducts were needed, though no up close pictures to hand :( (that said probably to a few peoples relief :laugh:) and finally got my personalized reg on :) I've been tinkering with a few things in the engine bay too but unfortunately it isn't too bright now so hopefully I'll get a bit of time tomorrow to get some photo's and bring that up to date :)

I only wish. I saw the same car in the staples car park further up the other day so recognized it from there. first time I've seen it from the front today though. no mistaking it as the same zed with the badge was right there, smack in the middle of a vented nose panel.... someone needs to own up and take responsibility ha

lol the shameful thing is I do the same thing. i might have to take it down if I'm been remembered for the irritating bug in my signature over other things such as my car ha
