Idling issues
Groover, did your motor throw up any codes when you had these problems? Mine doesn't really do the scooby bit, well maybe a bit but not for long! When I start her up it's like an older motor without the choke pulled out, so I guess not running rich enough.? Revving up you get flat spots and sort of dieing but picks up to rev freely then down again. If you try and drive normally it pops a bit, very hesitant, then sort of backfires(?) a couple of times then picks up and runs slightly better until she's warm then all is much better but still not 100%. The idling, when hot, though correct on the rev counter, sounds lumpy but doesn't stall. I just don't have the mechanical knowledge to do too much on my own so am reluctant to start pulling bits apart etc. Would getting a conzult cable and one of the softwares available help diagnose what the ECU has failed to pick up?

Idling issues
In beween the pain in the ass showers I finally got to run the code check! Code 55 was the only code repeatedly displayed which I understand is no fault found code! Helpful eh?!!

Idling issues
Mines an NA and doing the same thing! Came on gradually over a couple of weeks or so and I replaced the spark plugs but that made no difference. After resetting the ECU it's even worse (I did reset it when cold, maybe you have to do that when it's warm?). It does idle at around the right revs but it feels lumpy and occasionally stalls when cold. When hot it doesn't stall but still feels lumpy. Goes ok when warm and under load but definitely not 100%. The revs compensate ok when air con is switched on and off. Vacuum hoses all appear fine and the Vac gauge reads the same as before so don't think it's vac related. Going to start cleaning up all the sensor connections when I get a moment. If you suss yours first please let me know and vice versa!

Cold running issue......
Sensor terminals all cleaned up, (didn't look bad anyway to be fair) but no difference. Given the symptons above do you think its too rich or too lean? If it's too rich wouldn't i just flood when I throttle it? Whereas it actually picks up when I do that.....

Cold running issue......
Thanks matey, I'll give it clean up and see if it makes a difference.

Supra prices!
Well the Z's may be cheaper but look around and there aren't too many on our roads. Supra's and Sky's on the other hand are plentiful...dare I say common?! So for me the Z has way more street cred!!

Cold running issue......
About a week and a half ago my motor developed cold running issues! Starts first time but runs like older cars do without the choke out!! Will stall sometimes but generally keeps idling, just. Runs poorly until up to temperature then appears to be pretty normal. While cold, she runs poorly but responds better when accelerating harder, though sometimes farts a bit getting there lol! Any clues and advise gratefully received.

TwinZ Rear spoiler
Prefer the 89 spec and all blended in but each to their own eh, else we'd all look the same!

how to ruin it!
Looks like somebody was after a Scooby but got their eBay bid wrong! Awful stickers and even worse rear spoiler, ruining what otherwise could be a well tidy motor!

Plus fiited the sandwich plate so now have Plasma Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges up and running whoop whoop!

Starter Motor Problem....
So, I went out to check under the car and found I can't get my trolley jack under it...so guess it's lowered then........so I couldn't get under the car...arrggghhhh The symptons are....I go out and try to start the car and it's like the battery is flat (shows a healthy 13 volts) for a couple of turns, and sounds like the solenoid or relay switches ok. Then after a couple of turns it spins something but weakly and the alarm sounds briefly (one peep) then usually after a couple more goes it starts. Once it's started once, I can turn it off and start it pretty much every time. Then if I leave it a while and go back to it the same thing happens.....does this give anyone a better idea of what may be the cause?

Starter Motor Problem....
Yes I'll give that a go first, but was just anticipating the possible need for replacement. It has been absolutely fine then this morning, lunch time and tea time gave problems.

Starter Motor Problem....
Well, I think my starter motor may be on the way out. Takes several turns of the key to get any response to start the engine and sounds a bit iffy too. Thinking of sourcing a reconditioned unit rather than risking an old one off eBay etc. Does anyone know a good source of reconditoned units at reasonable prices?
