Because insurers think that they are different to the UK model and that it might cost them more to replace things on them etc, hence it costs more money. Plus there are normally more mods on them too (apparently)

Look at the docs, it'll say fairlady or it should state import. We will not insure an import from japan and no performance enhancing mods, so bodykits and things are fine and makes no difference to us.

could still have the cover, at the end of the day it is up to the insurance company what they will and will not insure you for. The police have no say at all in this matter

The insurance company i work for (more than) you can drive the car third party only no matter what cover you have, it is in the policy booklet! Even half of the staff think that the customer can only drive other cars if they are comprehansive. i hate it when people don't know there jobs FFS :slap:
