i was round the other side of my sisters mahoosive house, but i tried it with out the mobile phone first and could not open the car (which was in the garage) then tried with the mobile and it did actually work.

well i do a similar thing for an insurance company (more than) We have to confirm DPA as part of our rules and regulations but we can always say we are from such and such a place etc as it has nothing to do with data protection.
