Unfortunately mate you get a lot of bad advice on this subject and it is a can of worms to be honest. At the end of the day the people you say 'go for it' aren't the ones forking out £1500+ to sort your car out once it starts smoking. The car will run a lot better and you get some noticeable power gains decatting but I'd only do it if you were considering doing the turbos at the same time. I think JoelyP on this site has unfortunately just learnt the hard way on this subject.

Shouldn't be a problem, a lot of people do that. You do run a high risk of turbo failure if you decat so I don't suggest doing it unless you have the funds to replace them should they go.
