  1. Sorry I didnt make this. I had to go off down south to do a few "deals on wheels"... 400miles of peugot diesel motoring fun!!!! But I did earn a few quid to compensate!!!
  2. The simple answer is... a LOT less than you or anyone else thinks. Points to consider BEFORE starting are.... Have you got the following essential tools. 3 Tonne trolley jack. Four good quality Stable axle stands. a hydraulic engine crane.A full set of good quality Metric sockets, extender bars, ratchets etc. Have you got a storage area approximately the size of the car? cos when stripped thats how much EXTRA space you will need. Have you got a week to devote to the job, cos on yer own it will take around 40 hours to fully dismantle a car(first time ). Of course breakers like AndyZ and Ricerocket do it in less. Practise always makes for perfect. Have you got six months to wait till you sell most of it? How are you going to dispose of the shell? And most importantly have you got the patience to deal with the dozens of time wasters you will encounter who want the bits but have no money, no time to collect etc etc. :headvswal As for individual prices. Just look at the "for sale " parts section. Loads of stuff always for sale at silly low prices. Then look on ebay. Even more parts for sale all at low low prices. And finally... Two parts that will sell straight away are the MAF and the UK clocks. Great!!! money coming in you say? Maybe, but once you sell them two bits the car is fooked! Its a ded zed. As always the above is all IMHO. Others may well disagree. I do however speak from experience. Pete
  3. Probably better to Import a nice rust free one from a USA dry State to the UK then drive it over to France.
  4. Yes indeed! Sat was Round 3 of The Z Club Drag Challenge. My best run of the day was a 14.80 @ 94.09mph Some way off my seasons PB.of 14.63. However for me the day was really about working on my reaction time rather than ETs as RTs now get separate points ranking in The Challenge. i got the following on my 6 main runs of the day. .282, .284, .313, .339, .346, and my worst of the day .383. I was well pleased with that lot. There are some encouraging signs of consistency finally coming, and with all times below .4 there is clearly some life yet in the old man!!! :o However everyone who was there and knew what to watch for were treated to a stunning display of consistency by John Webster (Top Drag Guru owner of Webster Race Engineering) in Santa Pods own 2 seater rail dragster. John was guest driver for the day and ran THREE 8.2 sec runs back to back!! And his three reaction times were 0.055.0.065 and 0.070!! Impressive or wot!   For those of you who dont know the second seat is just behind the driver but in line with him and is available for guests(paying of course) Im seriously tempted! :hyper:

  8. You can join us any time mate. just put yer name on the Midlands members list and send your details to the Dark Warrior to get your membership pack.
  9. Unfortunately its the picnic table type that works best.!!!!! Check out the field in a German Touring Car round or an Aussie V8 race.
  10. The only way to gain real first hand knowledge. Meet some owner... look at the cars....Come to some meets... All in meetings section. Reading on here and looking helps but does not replace face to face stuff. You will be made welcome and others have followed the same route. HTH Dont bother lookin at mine tho... its not immaculate and its not a Turbo(thank fook) :D :D But I like it .. which is all that metters to me!!!! :hyper:
  11. LOL! LOL! Its a bit more scientific than that!!! The fulcrum or pivot point is altered so the top part moves thru less distance but the part below the pivot point still travels the same distance only it does so in less time. The traditional down side is of course the additional effort required to shift due to the reduced leverage ratio. In general there is a lot ot nonsense written about these kits and also a lack of understanding of the principles involved. i hope the above makes sense to you. Given the above info It is then obvious (to me anyway) that fitting a quickshift kit to a box in good working order will not damage it in any way. However...... fitting one to a box with weak/worn syncros may highlight the problem as the increased speed of shift may start to beat the (already) worn syncro hubs.
  12. actually Mike uses two different people near him for work. Both are Zed knowledgable and of course have Mike on hand for parts and additional tech info. I can certainly vouch for Karl personally as I have travelled down to him to get my ally flywheel and ACT Clutch fitted. Efficient, and reasonable with his labour rate.l
  13. Same here only mine is the Non Afterburner (NA) version  :x: :x: :x:

And personally for me the appeal of the Skicktop is the fact that it hasnt got those stupid glass panels in the roof.  I hate fresh air open top motoring with a vengance. And lastly they do handle better cos the shells dont flex and they are faster cos they are lighter, especially them RED ones :D :D
  15. Well not much use asking in the Midlands forum. Suggest you contact Membership sec.
  16. At that level of price and given you are a novice I would pay for a full professional inspection by someone familiar with the model. IMO.
  17. Yep! done 2 Z32s now.as wel as a few earlier 240Z/260Z/280ZXs. Stripping a Z32 is not overly difficult if you have a good set of tools, big trolley jack, axle stands and an engine crane. What surprises many people the first time they break a car is the amount of space all the components occupy. More than the space for an assembled car I reckon. Give me a call if you want anymore info 01773 761238 or email me. pmaczc@madasafish.com
  18. i bet his wallet was a bit thinner when he left!!! LOL

Yeah do that mate cos you know what a good venue The Bubble is. I hope ya can make it. :nana2: Especially as "non midlands members" have to buy the first round now. ;) ;)
  21. Slick Pete. replied to TiZer's topic in Events - UK
Not at all. ;) It just means more parking spaces at meets for REAL midlands Members!!!  Pity really cos ya gonna miss a nice meet at the Bubble in two weeks time! :x: :x: :x:
  22. In my opinion NO. These three captive nuts are only for very small bolts, and the plate they are on is not strong enough. Look at the edges of it .They will distort but the bigger danger is that the little bolts will shear.
  23. Like the man said. A timeless shape. SWB Slicktop,
  24. The trouble with things like an impact driver is you need a 3HP 14cfm compressor to run one. Thats outta the range for most diy types.
  25. I can supply a good used J spec tank(and filler if needed) But cant fit it for you!! Fitting is straitforward. DIY or any garage really, PM me if you want to discuss further :D
