  1. Yeah i've seen some of the other threads on the subjects, but none of them really suggest any exact speaker recommendations. The amp has been bypassed in my car so I wouldn't be all that confident wiring in another amp to be honest, it's not really my forte. I was looking at getting some coaxial all round, but until payday I can only replace the (now broken) rear speakers. I was also considering a sub at some point.
  2. Hey guys, Now that i've gotten my stereo sorted out, just wondering what you guys think is the best audio solution? I know that it's 6.5" speakers that can go into the front (do they go in without modifying the door?) but i'm not sure if it's 16cm or 17cm. Also, I know that 4" x 6" speakers go in the back, but i'm not sure if that's the best that will go in. For this month i'm replacing the rear speakers, so advice on them would be great. I'm limited to about £60 per speaker at the moment but any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
  3. Took it to a mechanic friend of mine, and he said it's most likely the bush at the top of the shock has worn, so will be a very cheap fix if this is the case!
  4. Just to let you know this has now been sorted. The amplifier had been bypassed, and one of the loose wires in the back was earthing out the entire system. So bizzare!
  5. Honestly, it's more of a rattle than a knock! I'll check the boot hatch, but i'm pretty sure it's not coming from there. I had a friend with his head in the back as I drove to try to pinpoint the sound though. I'll deffo take a look at the hatch, but it did apparently sound like it was coming from the fuel cap area. Thanks for the advice dude :)
  6. Nah, aerial is in, head unit is grounded to a chassis nut behind the dash, green wire is spliced into red/black antenna wire. No idea what's causing it :( Cheers for your time though!
  7. Sorry, didn't mean to come across as rude :) Thanks for your offer
  8. Nah, i'm in the Midlands mate! Telford!
  9. Nobody else have any ideas? :(
  10. Yeah, pretty sure it was that one.
  11. I just tried it on the blue wire as that is a 12v switch correct? Still no luck :(
  12. One grey, and one green. It has a grey dot on the green one
  13. It has six wires connected! It's a jap 96
  14. do you remember which colour it was?
  15. Well, i've given up now. It's correctly wired, the stereo is working fine but no sound is coming from any of the speakers.
  16. It's the original bose speakers i'm pretty sure. Any link showing how it should be wired?
  17. Hi guys, Had the new car a couple of days now and decided to put my old stereo into it, the car has a conversion adaptor, that converts it to a din socket. Plug the din socket in, stereo works perfectly but there is no sound to the speakers. Took it into halfords and the guy was convinced the rear driver side speaker was arcing, so we took it home and took the speaker out, plugged in the stereo and unfortunately no luck! Any ideas?
  18. It happens pretty much constantly, even on the smallest bumps. It sounds like the bump of the road goes through it, and it sounds like plastic rattling around. I know what suspension problems sound like, and i'm pretty sure it's not that. It sounds very clear as if it's inside the car.
  19. We had the panels off to have a look yesterday and couldn't spot anything, although the only thing on the list that I saw was the breather box so I might have to take another look!
  20. Hey guys! Recently new 300zx owner, and am esctatic with the car! Literally the only issue with the car I bought is a knocking in the rear quarter passenger side. It sounds like it's behind one of the quarter panels, and definitely sounds like it's internal, like it was the speaker or something similar. I've not managed to track it down, and I don't think it's suspension related as the car has only done 40,000 miles and the suspension is very solid, no play and doesn't feel like there is anything up with it. Is there anything else that might be known to cause it?
  21. Also bloody hell Si do you sleep? :D
  22. All the time! It doesn't sound like the suspension though, I know what that sounds like as i've had plenty of suspension problems with my old GT-Four (They're well known for them!) Even on smoothish roads it'll knock like something is loose. She's only done 41,000 miles too so i'd be surprised if it was the CV joint.
  23. So, I bought the white Zed. She is completely immaculate, not a single scratch on her and running perfectly, except for a knocking that I am pretty sure is interior in the rear passenger side. I've had the panels off in the boot and i've still not been able to source the cause of the knock! Someone said that it might be a CV joint. Where would I be able to get one of these from?
  24. Fair enough! I'll get it sorted in the next couple of months ;) Will be a bit skint after a new car purchase! Haha
  25. Apparently according to the owner the ECU it doesn't have a very agressive mapping and it's MPG/Performance is basically unaltered! The black one didn't go through, I just saw the white one and thought it'd be nice to check out/buy if it's nice on inspection ;)
