  1. After reading through that lot it sounds like it could be a plug issue - if I use very low acceleration I can creep up to 3000rpm but when I try to use a bit more accelerator it stumbles pretty badly. I'll pull them later this week I think.
  2. Just as an added note, it idles without any issues and doesn't sound rough at all until about 2500rpm. When accelerating anything past this it will judder and hesitate like hell. I did disconnect the TPS completely - wouldn't this have made some sort of difference to how it was running when I did this?
  3. Hey guys, Having trouble with the engine on my 94 Z. The engine is struggling to rev properly. When accelerating it struggles to reach/go above 2500rpm. When in neutral it will reach around 4000rpm and will start to miss/splutter pretty badly anything past that. Unfortunately I had to drive the car like this 100 miles as I was away at the time. During my drive back, the issue got steadily worse to the point where the car was struggling to hit around 1600rpm. Once the engine has cooled down, it's back to trying to get to 2500rpm. Any ideas? I have already tried replacing the MAF, PTU and disconnecting the TPS today with no effect. Cheers lads!

  5. Hey guys, I'm having a big problem with my Z. I'm pretty sure it's PTU related. Basically, when driving the engine will start to act all weird, but only if i've been driving a while (long trips etc) or on very hot days. The accelerator will go digital, so that it is either fully on, or fully off but the accelerator isn't pushed down all the way. So, I pull over and it runs like shit. Turn the engine off and it won't start. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and it starts up and acts like nothing had ever been wrong? This will usually happen once on a long journey etc. Anyway, with the recent hot weather it's happened after the car has been left out in the sun (no shade on my work car park :() engine started briefly, but ran like shit. Sounded like it was on 5 cylinders or something. After i've restarted it, I will not start. The starter runs, but there is no ignition. Also, it sounds like the fuel pump or hicas (it is at the back of the car?) constantly runs until I disconnect the battery. This also has happened the previous times. I am pretty sure that when I return to the car this evening or early tomorrow morning it will start again like nothing happened. Now it sounds a lot like a PTU issue, but I replaced the PTU about a year ago. (I didn't replace the loom...). The PTU I bought was second hand though, but it was series 2. Any ideas?

  8. One more thing. I have a pretty bad chip half way up the front side of the car (by the bonnet) and a little scratch on the front passenger side of my front bumper, anyone know how much it'd cost to touch them up? Know anyone in the midlands area that could do it?

  10. Hey guys, quick question! There is a black strip that runs around the entire of the car. On the back it's along the bumper and level with the licence plate and along the sides it's just low on the arch. You know probably know what i'm talking about ;) Mine has just started to peel away, and I can see that quite a lot of you remove it. While I think it looks good with it removed, I also like it how it is now. Anyone know if you can get a replacement cheaply? If not, if I were to peel it away is it usually perfect paintwork underneath? Cheers! Matt

  17. Hey guys! Midlands based 300zxTT owner here, just wondering if any of you guys know any good garages in the area that do 300zx work? I'm looking at getting the clutch/cambelt/alternator belt done, and I know pretty much just about ZedWorld, who have quoted about a grand. Anyone know of any other places? Cheers!
  18. So, it looks like there is already a series 2 PTU on the car. Are they prone to failure at all? Hell of a shame 'cause I wouldn't have thought they'd have gone if the car has only done 41000 miles :p

  20. Hey guys! My first major problem with my car :tt2: Basically, driving normally and the engine will cut out completely dead. All electronics will still be working, but I have no power steering (as the engine isn't going) So, I pull over and after a little while of trying to start it again (Usually about 10-15 minutes) it'll spring into life. This is very intermittant, I had it on the way back from buying the car! But once I had it home, I didn't have the issue for a couple of weeks up until yesterday where it started doing it again. So, pretty sure this is the PTU. Where is the cheapest place to grab one? Thanks guys!

  22. Sweet, they're certainly in the running then! I'd only consider an amp for a sub, to be honest and I don't quite want to do that yet.
