  1. Just asked my mate who's a bit of a chef and he swears by sabatier knives and uses a steel.
  2. Get a 'diamond' dry stone like I use for my chisels.
  3. That is ideal for pathways etc where you want it to be hardwearing whilst maintaining a grass/lawn appearance. But would be like washing your Zed on the lawn, the water will soak away and not drain away. Could turn into a bit of a quagmire.
  4. Thanks Dave. I thought so too, still loads to do though. Considering going '99 spec front and rear at the moment. Or fog ducts and '89 rear. Thoughts?
  5. Wow! That is a freaking bargain. Why don't I know these mates of mates type people?? Nice one Graham.
  6. Total opposite post to what I was expecting Nick. Only you can decide what is right for you. I know there will be a lot of 'you are so close' posts, but you've been there before. A sad post but do what is right for you. Good luck with whatever you decide. Daffy.
  7. They need to realise they are guests and not passengers in our cars. They should therefore wipe thier feet before the priveledge of being allowed in. FACT. I have been known to place newspaper in the guest footwell.
  8. Thanks guys. Just got back from what you might describe as a 'spirited' drive. Absolutely fantastic and I'm even forming a soft spot for the auto. Never thought it would grow on me but it is. To hell with fuel prices, awesome drive in an awesome car. Love it.
  9. Had the car a little over 12 months now so thought i'd do a quick highlight thread of the work I have done to it in it's first year. Not very exciting but at least I can see why I have no money left!! HANDLING: DW adjustable tension rods Cyberspeed front camber arms DW total hicas eliminator Cyberspeed rear camber arms DW polybushed rear MiesterR zeta-r coilovers Falken FK452 all round EXTERIOR: Stone chip removed and smoothed All car park dents removed (dentman) Smoothed and de wipered tailgate Full respray in Cherry Red Pearl New scuttle panels Roof trims repainted to as new condition Genuine '99 spec rear lights Genuine '99 spec centre panel Wheels stripped and powdercoated Calipers painted black INTERIOR/ICE: Headunit, Sony GT730 Speakers, front Hertz ESK165 comp, rear JL 650CXI coax Amp, Vibe slick A4 under custom cover Subs, JBL GTO804 in custom enclosures iPhone holder (custom) in place of ashtray Replaced drivers seat. MAINTENENCE: Conzult Oil and filter change New brake pads front and rear Caliper overhaul Brand new series2 PTU Blitz SUS induction kit That's about all really. All of it completed a couple of months ago, so you can see my first 10 months of ownership were quite intense. I have to say though the car has been an absolute pleasure to own and drive, it's only fault so far has been the PTU packing up, oh and the squeaky bloody brakes lol. Doesn't look a lot when written down like that but as owners yourselves i'm sure you can empaphise with the amount of work gone into it. I have all the parts for a manual conversion to fit to the car, and this will be done in due course, but for now i am just enjoying driving it and revelling in the admiring glances and comments it attracts from all walks of life. Daffy.
  10. 60 minute makeover lol :thumbup1: Thanks for the kind comments guys. Just wish I new the first thing about cars, I am clueless when it comes to anything apart from cleaning them!!
  11. I really am LOL. Love it!! :smartass::winkiss::cool3: I'm just off out and that's proper made me laugh. Good times.
  12. 130mile round trip for me. Which equates to about 60quid in fuel alone. Looks like a good time could be had though, and be nice to see a few other Zeds and meet the owners. If I don't have too late a night I might well pop along.
  13. I have a block paved driveway coming up and like your mate says, a concrete sub and then thin layer of sharpsand should stop any 'sinking'. Although if you get your levels wrong and have too deep a sand layer it will compact, even with a sub-base. All prices are unique bud as no two jobs are the same.
  14. What is google map? I'll google North Weald Airfield. Thanks Pete :winkiss:
  15. I have been known to use a Quick Detailer after a downpour. OCD big time when it comes to keeping my Zed shiny. The dirtiest it's ever been was after the 200mile round trip for the Zedworld bash. And i'm still not over it lol.
  16. Thanks for the positive comments guys. Not you Dave :tongue_smilie: Unlike those programmes you see on the telly where they lay slabs on sharp sand directly on soil this is the 75mm concrete sub-base we put down before laying the paving on a screed mix.
  17. Got a postcode for this?
  18. Not like that :blushing: I mainly work as a carpenter, but also have a small painting and decorating firm, but my first job in the building game was as a landscape gardener. Haven't laid a patio in years but after doing some interior work for a customer they asked if i'd price a patio for them. Price agreed, this is the result. BEFORE: AFTER: I'm well chuffed with it and the customer is over the moon. The one thing working in the building trade has going for it is job satisfaction. At the end of most weeks you can look at your work and think 'I did that'.
  19. That could be possible if it's good with Vods too.
  20. This really is sad news. A truly great sportsman and entertainer too. A fighter with a fantastic attitude right to the end. A sad day indeed. RIP.
  21. Really? When is good for you Ian? You can get to try the MeisterR's too :cool3:
  22. I've got some 3in1 will that do? :tooth:
  23. We have plenty of time. Do tell.........lol
  24. Thanks for all the advice guys, it's appreciated. Is now a good time to admit I wouldn't have a clue how to carry out any of the above!! Anyone near Reading want to assist for beer tokens?
  25. Uprate your front speakers, fill up the tank and go for a long long drive with your favourite tunes playing. Guaranteed smiles per hour.
