Mate, I wanted to cry it was that painfull. Serves me right really, a few years ago my best mate informed me he had gout and i nearly wet myself. Continued to rip the piss, 6 months later i got my first attack. I've normally got some of his pills about me, but didn't have any this time. Felt it coming on last thursday but thought because i'm on a health kick it would be a mild one and i'd be okay. How wrong could i be...... At least i've got my own meds now, and I won't be running out ever again let me tell you.

Our latest Trader will be made up with this!!

Alan, you understand my pain. That looks sore as!!! The pics don't do the pain justice. Are you on regular meds or just when you have an attack? I will never be without ever again.

Pretty much everything I tried. Is it that you can't "switch off" and your brain effectively won't let you sleep? It's been suggested to keep a sleep diary. In that, if your mind is working overtime then write down what you are thinking. This is supposed to help you stop thinking about it. If your mind moves on to something else write that down and try to sleep again. You get the picture.... Even if you only try it for a few nights and it doesn't work at least it will give you an idea as to what is keeping you awake. But you probably already know mate. The excercise thing can help but can also have the opposite effect unfortunately. I'm guessing you are at the point where you are tossing and turning and getting more and more wound up with yourself because you want to sleep so desperately and yet still can't. This again makes it worse!!! I can only offer my sympathy and understanding mate. Unless you have suffered you would not believe how it can ruin your life. It is impossible to understand the effects it has on you. Get to the doctors like Jane says and insist on seeing a specialist. Don't leave until an appointment has been made. It's a complex thing and there are people who can help. Best of luck.

Mate, I too suffer with insomnia. Luckily it's no where near as bad as it used to be. I had chronic insomnia for about 2 years so feel your pain. I too tried everything, but found it impossible to switch off and still do. If you don't mind me asking what have you tried so far?

I'm on meds now thank ****. I'm only 35, been veggie all my life until a month or so ago, and like a pint or two. Been on a real fitness drive and look what i get in return. Going back to being a beer drinking veggie I reckon!!

That Jane, is an attack of gout in all its raging glory. The pain has made me physically sick. It is unbearable.

.....and this is why Any other sufferers on here will feel my pain. It is excrutiating, and all because i've started training, cut right down on the drink, introduced meat into my diet and lost a stone in weight. How can that be fair!!!!! :censored:
