Not my car and not my choice, but I really think you won't be happy with the result if you do go ahead with it. I think it looks great as it is, but if you really want to change the colour I don't think two-tone is the way to go. All IMHO of course.

Nah, sorry that's horrible. It doesn't look like a BMW 7 series: it looks like a crap knock-off of a BMW 7 series, a bit like a car version of those fake Swiss watches you used to be able to get from your local market (maybe still can). In any case, for that kind of money or not much more you could get yourself a real BMW 7 series from the late 1990s (the big engined versions depreciate like mad), which is what that kind of looks like if you're really plastered and you squint a lot. My mate did exactly that with a 1998 BMW 740, and I know which I'd rather buy.

Well for sure he doesn't like them any more, but that's because of the reliability issues, and on that I can kind of see his point. Not that I'm complaining, you pays your money and you takes your chances with a car like this. At any rate I can't see him posting a link to Mac's car on barryboys.

£8k?!? For an MR2?!? You're 'avin' a larf! They're OK but I think the MR2 is starting to look really quite dated, and not in a "classic" kind of way either. Completely agree about those aluminium spoilers. I've seen one looking good on a 200sx (think it belonged to someone on here - orange and black), and I've seen one look moderately OK on a Skyline in a kind of "well I didn't immediately start vomiting blood" kind of way. Still, each to their own.

Yeah, the rear fogs can be pretty annoying at night, however what's actually worse is people who just drive around with main beam on instead of/as well as their fog lights when they're in town. Not being racist but the immigrant taxi drivers seem to be the worst offenders in Cambridge, or at least that's what my empirical observations would suggest. What really annoys me about this is that if you stick your main beams on in fog YOU get dazzled anyway because you suddenly get enveloped in this massive diffuse orb of white light, and then you can't see the road markings as well as with just dipped beams on.

I always think London's a great place to leave. Not really a great deal against the place except that whenever I have to drive there I wind up wanting to beat somebody to death with an iron bar after about 10 minutes, and although I have a slightly sparky temperament I'm generally pretty mild mannered so that's well out of character. But yeah, there's too much news coverage and not enough news to fill it. CNN, Sky News, BBC News 24 and all these other news channels have a lot to answer for in my opinion. In any case much of what you hear from day to day, even on something like the 10 o'clock news is not factual reporting, but commentary on events and even outright speculation, and the thing with that is that most of it is rubbish, because to get a true picture of what's going on you generally need to let events unfold a bit, which is why news weeklies like Time and The Economist (bleuch! I hate that magazine with a passion) can often give you a better overall picture than the daily news. You have to wonder when you hear on the morning news that Sir Ian Blair has said there's a very significant danger of a completely non-specific terrorist attack with no specific intelligence this side of Christmas (if you listen to the original interview this really isn't what he says at all, that's just the way it was reported), which if I was feeling particularly cynical I might translate as, "Be scared, be quiet, and stay at home because that way you're easier to keep under control." Bang on mate. German Shepherds in particular have a very undeserved bad reputation, but it's entirely down to irresponsible owners. Those things need looking after. It's is actually my first choice of dog (haven't had a dog for about 10 years now and have been dying to get one) but unfortunately I can't because it wouldn't be fair on the dog to be stuck in all day while I'm at work, so I'm going to need to go for something a bit more chilled out like a Golden Retriever. A German Shepherd would just get bored and become neurotic and self-destructive... and bark all the time because it was so bored. This is the problem with my neighbours' dogs. One's a German Shepherd and is clearly bored out of its brains, although it's now learned that I'm not a stranger and doesn't bark at me when I'm in my back garden. Their other dog on the other hand does (not sure what that one is though).

A dog like that should have been properly trained from a puppy. Sorry, I'm a dog lover, but I get really p***ed off with irresponsible dog owners who don't train, don't socialise and don't consider their animal's (and neighbours') welfare before just going out and getting a dog because they like the look of it or whatever. They should bring back licensing and dog owners should be required to take their dogs to obedience classes, for which they should be required to pay, and to reach a certain minimum standard of training. They should also be required to train their dogs not to bark because I am so sick of my neighbours' dogs' constant barking (still, I now have a device to deal with this, so it's not such a big deal). Best thing you can do with an animal like that, which can't be trusted, is take it outside and shoot it.

Groovy, thanks. I thought I was making excessively hard work of it or something. Must just be very well stuck on. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the effort TBH, all to make my rear fog light a little brighter by adding some reflective stuff to the inside of the bulb housing.

...but is it even possible to remove the centre panel from the rear lights without removing the side panels containing the indicators and brakelights? I've had a good look through the fog light and '99 spec replacement FAQs and haven't managed to find a definitive answer to this. Thanks, Bart
